Kia Sorento Smashes Sales Record In Canada – June 2013 Sales Figures

Kia Canada’s sales figures for June were virtually identical to the numbers they posted last year.

They sold 7,775 vehicles this year, compared to 7,782 in 2012.

Four different vehicles performed extremely well in June, including an all-time sales record of 1,895 units for the newly refreshed 2014 Sorento.

The Sorento smashed its old record that it set way back in September 2011, with this year’s figures also marking a 58% increase over the same period in 2012.

The all-new 2014 Forte sedan also did well, moving 1,215 units for an increase of 10% over last year.

Rondo, Rio Sales Growth

The Red Dot design award-winning Rondo MPV performed well in only its second month of release.

Kia sold 945 units of the new Rondo, resulting in a staggering 117% increase over last year.

The Rio subcompact family, Motoring TV’s 2013 ‘Best Small Car’, combined for a total of 1,324 units sold, for a 10% increase over last year.

The Rio line-up continues to lead the way in volume growth, with a total of 8,458 units sold across Canada this year. That represents a 25% increase over the same period last year.

Reasons For Kia Canada Growth

Jack Uczciwek, Director of Sales, Kia Canada Inc., said that the sales performance in Canada has resulted in some serious volume for Kia in June 2013.

He points to the 4 vehicle launches in the first part of the year as playing a role in that growth.

That trend is expected to continue, since Kia has a few more major launches coming in the second half of 2013.

June also saw Kia Canada land at number 37 in Interbrand’s list of the 50 Best Global Green Brands 2013.

This marks the first time that the Korean automaker has landed in the list of companies that display a high level of sustainability and environmental performance.

Interbrand uses a combination of market perception and actual performance to come up with the brands on their list.

This recognition comes on the heels of Kia’s first appearance on the 100 Best Global Brands 2012 rankings, in which they placed 87th.
