Nikki’s Kia Soul’s Called Little Devil + Cool Photos

For our latest entry in the Kia owner’s series we head to Chandler, AZ, where Nikki, an IT support representative, is a proud and active member of the Kia Soul community.

In fact, Nikki is the moderator at the SoulHamsters.com community, which is THE online venue for talking about the Kia Soul.

Nikki is definitely someone who is well versed in the auto world, as she spends a ton of time at motor shows, and was also a 3rd place winner at the Phoenix Duel in the Desert race.

She is also a keen Kia enthusiast, having been the owner of a pair of different Kia vehicles (Rio and Spectra) before getting behind the wheel of the Soul.

Kia Soul Rear LampsHer latest purchase has undergone some cool mods, and she now refers to it as Little Devil.

She is always delighted at the great responses she gets when people see Little Devil, but Nikki never really bought the vehicle expecting to do any major upgrades.

She wanted something that was good on gas, and she was very much inspired by the initial Kia Soul commercials on TV.

She has owned the car since 2011, and has since made numerous upgrades, all of which you can hear about by reading on.

Soul Owner Q&A

1. Nikki, tell us something about your Kia car ownership experience?

I have owned 2 other Kias before my Soul. A 2003 Kia Rio, M/T. I couldn’t drive it home because I didn’t know how to drive stick shift at the time.

And then I had a 2003 Kia Spectra GS. That was a fun little car, especially the “hidden” hatchback look.

When I bought my Soul, I never thought I’d modify it the way I did. Now I own a Kia Soul that I call Little Devil.

2. What do other people say about your car?

People are shocked to see a “slammed” Soul. They are always telling me how good it looks. A lot of people I come across are surprised when I tell them I added the modifications myself.

3. How long have you owned your ride?

I have owned my Little Devil since February 2011. Best decision I’ve ever made.

4. Honestly, what was your intention when you bought your Kia?

I needed a car of my own with good gas mileage; I was tired of using my dad’s Ford F150 that was a gas hog.

I remember when I first saw the commercial for the 2010 Soul with the Hamsters, I thought it was the funkiest looking car ever! But in 2011 when I pulled into the dealership, I just fell in love with the car.

5. What do you like the most about your ride?

What is there not to like? I love my car! I love how my car sounds with the SSD exhaust and intake. It doesn’t have that high pitched whining sound but rather a deep throaty sound that you’d get from a sports car.

6. What is it that makes your ride look unique?

The HSD Coilovers make such a difference, not just in looks, but also in ride quality. The coilovers have provided me with a nice 3 to 4 inch drop.

7. What accessories have you installed so far / do you have any future plans?

Current Modifications:

  1. LED Headlight “Eyebrows”
  2. SSD Roof Rails w/Aero Cross Bars and SSD Wind Fairing
  3. SSD Light bar w/Hella Black Magic Driving Lights
  4. SSD Axle-Back Exhaust
  5. SSD Cold Air Intake
  6. SSD Fog Light Vents
  7. Tinted Taillights and Rear Reflectors by Monster Paint
  8. FX TWM Performance Shifter Cable and Base Bushings OEM Sport
  9. Throw Shifter OEM
  10. Front and Rear Body Skirts in Piano Black
  11. Carbon Fiber Upholstery
  12. Vinyl Shifter
  13. Boot Carbon Fiber Upholstery
  14. Vinyl Door Panel Inserts
  15. White PlastiDip Center Console
  16. Trim White PlastiDip Hood and Hatch
  17. Diode Dynamics Interior and License Plate LEDs
  18. Stage 2 Stage 2 Reverse LEDs by Automotive Custom Lighting
  19. LLC Uniq Performance Strut
  20. Tower Brace HSD Monopro Series Coilovers
  21. MB Wheels Twist 18×7 +50 Offset w/Nitto Motivo 225/40ZR18XL Tires

Future modifications:

  • Upgraded audio (subwoofer, amp, door speakers, tweeters, headunit)
  • Custom Paint job (matte finish like the Plasti-Dip give it now)

Interview With New Kia Forte EX Owner From Dallas, TX

We continue our series of interviews with Kia owners by taking time to have a conversation with JW from Dallas, TX.

He is the proud owner of a Kia Forte, and his hobbies, other than working on and talking about his car, are playing video games and watching football.

The 2014 Kia Forte that JW purchased is certainly different than anything he has previously owned, with a Range Rover Classic LWB and a Ford F-150 among his previous vehicles.

When it came time to buy a new car, JW decided that he wanted a vehicle that had a low cost of ownership, but which would also stand him in good stead for the next 10 years or so.

After visiting a dealership in Dallas, JW took the great information he received there to purchase his Kia Forte online.

The outstanding Kia warranty and inclusion of technology, such as media and navigation systems, were big selling points for JW.

When pressed to mention his favorite aspect of the car, JW tells us that the lighting found in the Forte is most pleasing, especially when he takes off for a night drive.

He also loves the technology package he purchased with the car, but that doesn’t mean he is done with modifications.

Read on to see what other plans JW has for his Steel Blue Kia Forte.

How it all started: My ownership experience started with my dealership and it was extremely professional and smooth. I bought the car online and had it delivered to my home in Dallas.

The communication with the dealership was always open and honest. The car itself has exceed my expectations for easy of use and cost of ownership.

People seem to love new Forte: Every person from coworkers to family members and friends have commented on how nice my new Forte is. As a car guy and a teacher they all know I love research and cars.

Because of that several have said I’ve changed their mind about Kia as they know I read and drove everything prior to buying and if its good enough for me then its good enough for them.

Car Shopping: I purchased my car on August 5th and took delivery on August 10th.

What was JW looking for? To buy a car with technology and comfort I could live with for the next ten years.

Moreover, a car that would only require routine maintenance in that time frame and no large unexpected expenses.

The warranty on the engine, the quickness of the navigation and media, and the quiet composed ride led me to my new Forte.

Best things about new Kia Forte: The Steel Blue color is a start. I have not seen one other Kia on the road that is that color.

Next would be the LED tails, they look amazing. From the LED parking lights, and the HID headlights that make night driving easy, to the lights on the side mirrors and the door handle pockets that illuminate when I approach the car.

I enjoy those even more at night as well.

Aftermarket Accessories: I have installed LED license plate lights, I de-badged “Forte” and “EX” from the trunk and placed a “K3” badge on it. The Forte is called K3 in Korea.

Future plans are Wincos-30 tint all around, LED lights for the map, dome, and glove box, Forte all-weather mats, and the Forte alloy pedals found on the upcoming 5-door Forte.
