Sportage, Cee’d Lead Kia UK To Record July Sales

The recent sales success of Kia UK continued unabated with an all-time sales record for the month of July being set at 6,027 units.

That number gives Kia a 3.72% share of an increased new car market.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders expect a raised forecast for the year, with total sales expected to hit 2.2 million.

With year to date sales of 43,205, Kia has seen their UK market share hit 3.26% so far in 2013.

The numbers that Kia posted in July 2013 represented an increase over the 5,593 units sold the previous year.

Their market share dropped a little from 3.89% to 3.72%, but that has to be tempered with the fact that the market as a whole was 12.5% smaller.

UK’s Best-Selling Kia Models

The top seller fo Kia in July was the Sportage with 1,707 units delivered to customers. The cee’d took second place with 1,365 sales.

The same two models sit at the top of the charts for the year to date with 12,433 and 8,743 sales, respectively.

The top 5 was rounded out by the Picanto, Rio and Venga with 998, 807 and 555 units respectively.

Paul Philpott, President and Chief Executive of Kia Motors (UK) Limited said that the sales records being set each and every month is a testament to not only the great lineup of cars on offer, but also the hard work of the dealer network.

He believes that with the car market beginning to come out of its recession, those numbers should continue to increase on the coming months.

Kia of USA has reported another strong sales month. The carmaker’s best-seller in July 2013 was Optima mid-size sedan. It was followed by Sorento and Soul crossovers.

The new comers such as 2014 Forte and Cadenza sedans performed well, too.

Cadenza’s sales broke the 1,500 units sales mark already in its second full month on the market, while Forte compact sedan managed to improve its sales numbers from the same month a year ago.
