Kia Announces Record July Sales, Cadenza Breaks 1,500 Units Sales Mark

Kia Motors America has announced that July sales came in at 49,004 units, representing a 1.9% increase over the same period last year.

The national marketing campaign for the all-new 2014 Cadenza resulted in the flagship sedan eclipsing the 1,000 unit mark for the second time in a row.

The US-built Kia vehicles accounted for more than 40% of all of Kia’s sales in July2013, with the Optima sedan taking top spot for the 20th straight month, moving 13,752 units.

The Sorento CUV also did very well, selling 9,576 during the month of July.

The Soul urban passenger vehicle remained a popular choice among consumers, delivering 10,160 units during July.

Byung Mo Ahn, group president and CEO of KMA and KMMG, said that awareness of Kia’s newer products, such as the Sorento, all-new Cadenza, and Forte, has helped elevate consumer opinion of the Kia brand by showing the quality and equipment that can be delivered at an affordable price.

He spoke about the new products that will soon be made available to the buying public, with each continuing to deliver a great combination of world-class design and cutting-edge technologies, as well as premium amenities, and all a price that is sure to exceed the expectations of people new to the Kia brand.

Another bonus for Kia in the month of July was the fact that three of their vehicles – the 2013 Optima, Rio and Soul – landed at or near the top of the J.D. Power 2013 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study for their respective segments.

The Soul gained recognition as the top “Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle” in the category for the second year in a row, while the Optima and Rio came in second in the “Mid-size” and “Sub-Compact” car segments, respectively.
