Kia Of USA Records Best-Ever Single Month Sales In May 2014

Could we call Kia the “big sales winner” of the month of May?

This is the question that comes to our minds when we look at the latest carmaker’s sales figures achieved in the United States last month.

May 2014 was by far the best sales month for the brand as their single month sales surpassed the 60,000 units mark for the first time in the company’s 20-year history!

To be exact, Kia Motors America sold 60,087 vehicles, up nearly 15 percent from the same month a year ago.

Furthermore, two of the Kia’s top-selling cars, the 2015 Optima sedan and funky Soul crossover, posted their best ever monthly sales figures.

The leader in sales last month was Kia Optima with 16,843 units sold, followed closely by the Soul CUV with 15,606 units.

Taking third and fourth spots were the Sorento CUV and Forte compact car with 10,548 and 7,196 units, respectively.

Another Kia vehicle that has performed well last month was the Sportage compact SUV, which has finally seen its sales figures rise more significantly.

The stylish compact SUV has nearly doubled its sale from a year ago for a total of 4,009 units in May.

The Cadenza also performed well, selling 990 units, while the out-going Sedona minivan kept its sales at the same levels as last year.

It was the sub-compact Rio that saw the largest decrease in sales last month, with numbers falling from 5,142 (in 2013) to 3,929 units in May 2014.

On the other side, we have the K900 luxury sedan which has recorded the sales of 227 units.

A solid figure for a newcomer in the high-end flagship sedan market, dominated by German and Japanese carmakers.

May 2014 Sales Highlights

• Kia sales surpass the 60,000 mark in a single month – this has happened for the very-first time since the company has entered the U.S. market!
• The automaker’s year-to-date sales figures are up 8,8 percent!
• The 2014 Optima mid-size sedan sets new monthly sales record!
• The Soul crossover also records its best single month sales in May!
