USA: Kia Reports January 2013 Sales Figures

Kia’s U.S. January 2013 sales gain powered by award-winning Optima mid-size sedan and Sorento crossover vehicle!

The positive sales pace Kia saw in the second half of 2012 rolled into January 2013. The carmaker’s overall monthly figures in the United States increased 2,2% compared to the same month a year ago.

A total of 36,302 new Kia vehicles were sold in the USA during the first month of 2013.

Kia Optima mid-size sedan and Sorento crossover vehicle continued to lead sales for the brand with 11,252 and 8,005 units sold, respectively. Sales of Kia Soul crossover remained strong with 7,382 units being sold.

Other models, including the Sportage, Rio and Forte products continued to deliver solid performance.

With the positive reception of the all-new 2014 Sorento CUV in Detroit, and the forth-coming release of the 2014 Forte compact sedan, Kia is poised for even greater success in 2013.

  1. I would imagine Kia is being a little bit cautious about MPG numbers for a while. I wouldn’t expect to see them advertising MPG on TV for a couple of years….at least until people start to forget about it a little more.

  2. I’ve seen the new 14 Sorento hit the ground at a dealer and the mpgs were bad. 4 cyn gdi and no awd gets 26 mpg on the hwy. That is terrible compared to the competition. They better get those engineers busy finding more mpg.
