Kia Motors America looks set to have another successful addition to its lineup, after unveiling the new 2014 Forte sedan and the L.A. International Motor Show.

This remodeled Forte sedan version gets a new chassis that is longer, lower, and wider than before, and which will offer more room, more premium features, and better performance.

The 2014 Kia Forte will come in LX and EX trims and a choice of 1.8L or 2.0L engines.

The model will hit the market in the early part of 2013 and is expected to continue in the same successful vein as the earlier edition which has sold well since its inaugural debut in 2009.

Buyers can expect to see a host of premium features in the new Forte, including audio controls mounted on the steering wheel, Bluetooth wireless, SiriusXM satellite radio, power windows, air conditioning, and power heated outside mirrors.

Going with the optional Popular Package will mean getting such features as 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, keyless entry, dual zone temperature control, and much more.

The EX trim will deliver even more features to the buyer, including Kia’s UVO infotainment system with eServices. The Flex Steer system will offer drivers 3 distinct steering profiles: Comfort, Normal, and Sport.

The Premium Package will include a power sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, heat seats in the front and back, a heated steering wheel, and more.

Spring for the Technology Package and you’ll get HID headlights, LED tail lights, dual zone temperature control, and a 4.2-inch color LCD cluster screen.

The performance of the all-new Forte is great, whichever engine you decide to go with. The LX trim comes with a 1.8-liter that delivers 148 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 131lb.-ft of torque at 4,700 rpm.

The EX comes with a more powerful 2.0-liter engine that delivers 173 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 154 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,700 rpm.

The design of the new Forte is one that gives it a more aggressive stance with a sporty feel. The crossover design will make you feel at home on the city streets, as well as in an off-road environment.

The swept headlights are cut deeply into the front fender and have projector lamps incorporated. The positioning of the LED makes the Forte look as though it is sporting eyebrows, creating a very distinctive look. The sleek design continues all the way along the flank of the vehicle, culminating in curved tail lights that make the rear as distinctive as the front.

The interior of the 2014 Kia Forte is also newly designed; with organic curves very much the order of the day. Quality materials are evident in every part of the interior, and the

control panel has been put together in a way that puts all the controls very much at hand.

Chrome accents deliver a beautiful finishing touch, and if you want a little extra luxury, you can always go with the optional leather package that Kia makes available.

  1. I find the lack of an SX trim on the 2014 Forte somewhat interesting. Maybe they are reserving the SX trim for 5-door and Koup models? That makes sense. 2 Door: EX, SX; 4 Door: LX, EX; 5 Door: EX, SX. I see the SX models getting a 1.6L turbo…..

  2. I am a little disappointed that Kia is only putting the 1.8 MPI in the Forte LX. It should have been the 2.0 GDI across the board and the 1.6 GDI turbo in the SX…..maybe that will still come as Greg said.

  3. Yeah you right Greg what is up with the Koup has it been discontinued because of the GT?????

My wife screwed me she don’t want to give up her 2008 Optima so my dream of buying 2 Kia vehicles at once and getting a great discount is out.

I still would have liked to get the Forte Koupe but I really wanted to see what the 2014 looked like.

  4. Fred, according to the Kia Buzz article, Koup and 5-door models will go on sale for 2nd Quarter of 2013. So, I would imagine those will show up at either Detroit or Chicago.

  5. forte is a terrible car name. Corrolla is a pretty terrible name also. But, Toyota had years upon years to establish their brand. The corrolla was a reliable bamger foe.the us market. No car other than honda could compete with the econo car. So the name corrolla became mainstream and a label.

Kia Forte does not seperate itself from the competition. A bad name will only make the new entry vehicle obscure ir irrelevant. The markwting team failed once again. Good names KIA has is the Sorrento, Soul and that is about it.
