March 2011 Kia sales figures

Kia announces record breaking sales figures for the month of March 2011 as Kia Sorento and Soul crossover each surpass 10.000 sales mark.

Kia announced yesterday that it has sold 44.179 vehicles in the U.S. market during the month of March 2011. Its monthly sales rose 44.7 percent from a year ago, and nearly 35 percent from February 2011.

Kia sales in March 2011 were lead by Sorento and Soul crossovers, which both surpassed the 10.000 units sales mark. While Kia Sorento has steadily achieved similar sales numbers over the past couple of months, this was for the first time that Kia Soul sales eclipsed the 10.000 unit mark. The two models have been Kia’s top selling nameplates with Sorento taking first spot among Kia cars sold on the U.S. soil (27.828 units sold to date) and Soult taking second spot with 22.057 units sold to date.

The month of March 2011 was particularly strong for Kia’s latest newcomers, the 2011 Optima sedan and Sportage crossover. Kia Optima sales nearly doubled from a year ago and almost hit the 7.000 units sales mark. The 2011 Sportage crossover, which was recently named the “Best New Crossover Vehicle” in the 2011 Readers’ Choice Awards by About.com sales also increased significantly from a year ago for a total of 4.717 units ( FYI; only 1414 units were sold in March 2010).

Let’s not forget to mention the Forte family, which includes the 2-door Forte Koup, 5-door hatch and 4-door sedan. Combined, their sales were up 55 percent against March 2010.

High demand for fresh new models, such as Optima mid-size sedan, Sportage CUV and Kia Forte 5 door have helped the automaker to achieve its best-ever quarterly sales result of 104.774 units and surpass the previous record of 97.955 units achieved in the third quarter of last year.

“Led by the Sorento and Soul, our record results are a reflection of the tremendous impact our fuel-efficient and technology-laden vehicles have made with consumers, and new levels of performance in models like the turbocharged Optima and Sportage will continue to surprise and impress consumers who turn to Kia while shopping for a new vehicle,” told Byung Mo Ahn, president and CEO of Kia Motors America and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia. 1. This is great, and I am confident this will continue throughout the year! Good Job Kia!

  2. Kia Canada had another record month
    * Kia Canada records best March in company history
    * Record March sales volume includes 5394 sales with 21.6 per cent growth
    * Record first quarter with 12,313 units sold surpassing 10,000 sales for the first time
    * All Kia Canada Regions experience record March
    * Industry-best sales streak continues at 27 months

there top selling models were 1-Sorento, 2-Forte, 3-Soul

  3. The fact that Optima sales nearly doubled from those of same car in same month a year ago is heartening news. Great new Optima design is getting raves round about. Blake Griffin dunking over it was a great looking stunt that helped to bring attention to the handsome new midsize sedan from Kia Motors.

  4. Kia filled a rental car company order for 2,000 Rios this month. Therefore, actual sales of the Rio totaled 70. It is time for it to DIE.

  5. I think they should have different listings for the 2011 Sportage and the pre-2011 Sportage, and the 2011 Optima and the pre-2011 Optima. They are completely different models, not just a midcycle facelift. The Sorento has 2 listings and is also a completely redesigned model (“MY’11 Sorento” and the pre-2011 “Sorento”).

As always, great job on breaking records again Kia!

  6. this sharp increase in sales of kia is remarkable achievement, what about other car manufacturers in usa , do they increase their sales like kia?
