Kia targets 17 percent sales increase in the US market next year

Kia sets ambitious goal to increase its sales in the US market by 17 percent in 2010!

According to Thomas Oh ( Executive Vice President), Kia Motors America is targeting 350.000 sales of new cars in the U.S. on a preliminary basis, compared with a projection of about 300.000 for 2009. Kia’s mmbitious sales target for 2010 is based on a prediction that the US car market is likely going to grow by about 8 percent next year, while global demand for new cars is expected to gain about 6 percent.

“Kia far outpaced the auto industry in terms of sales this year ans we we managed to turn the economic recession into an opportunity to sell more cars. We are very much prepared to grow and expand not only in the local market, but also overseas”, said Thomas Oh.

To lift its sales, Kia plans to roll out new models and increase the number of dealerships on the US soil. Reportedly, the Korean second largest carmaker will increase the number of dealerships by as much as 15 percent from last year for a total of 715 in 2010. The company expects to win many former sellers of U.S. automakers.

With the hot-selling Soul crossover, just recently launched Forte sedan and Forte Koup, and forth-coming Sorento crossover, Kia has built one of the most attractive vehicle line-ups in the automotive industry. But the automaker will not be resting and there are plans to expand the range with new, attractive models.

During the next 12 months, Kia will introduce at least three new models in the US market. Kia already announced it plans to debut a premium four-door vehicle, which will replace the outgoing Amanti sedan. Called Cadenza (K7 in Korea), the all-new premium sedan is expected to go on sale in the US early next year with a choice of a four-cylinder 2.4L Theta II engine or 3.5L V6 Lambda engine.

Later in the year, Cadenza will be joined by completely redesigned Sportage crossover and Optima sedan, while latest rumours indicate a 5-door version of the Forte compact car is also likely to make its debut in 2010.

  1. And tthe K5 is being built to replace which current Kia vehicle? Now that we’re explaining what the Cadbury is meant to replace let’s keep the roll going.

  2. The K5 will replace the Optima. The K5 will be called Optima in the USA. The K7 will replace the Amanti in the USA, the K7 will be called Cadenza in the USA.

  3. Greg, buddy, you’re the best! I was starting to spazz some of these facts over and out in my mind and as it turns out that’s what I was thinking I just need confirmation of that. What do you think of the new K5? I already have read up on the K7 and it looks all right to me.

  4. Yeah I think KIA is grossly underestimating their sales for next year. The Current Product, along with the incoming models will be enough for a 46% sales increase from this year.

  5. LMAO, Chajee Pojee! I hope Kia doesn’t call the CH the K9. It is supposed to be one slick looking car! RWD and a 310 HP V6, or 380 HP V8 in select markets. I can’t wait for the 2012 Amanti! (CH is larger than the current Amanti [compare to a Genesis], the Cadenza is for the large car segment, where the CURRENT Amanti sits.)

  6. I wouldnt call it Amanti, with 5000 units sold in the USA annually nobody likes that car. We need a name change for the new CH.

  7. I think they are going to let the Amanti name die off.. They can advertise a new carline like they did the Forte.

As for sales if the economy keeps on going up they will hit the numbers.

  8. I think K3, K4, K5, K6, K7, K8, K9 are just public code names for CH, etc… They will probably give the K9 some elegant name like Protenza or something.

  9. Yep, I’m sorry, naming it the Cadenza will always remind me of the Cadbury candy bar. Please name it something else!

  10. The Potenza is a crappy old Daewoo. Why would they name the CH Potenza? Kia really has had their hands full at R&D. During the year 2009 they have and will have dealt with the TD, the XK, the VG, XM, SL, and TF.

  11. VD is hiding in the background but I they name the Chlamydia. Or the Genitalia, Generous Italian accents through out the model design.

  12. Webmaster change the poll it’s a long time there. Make a new one .make the question , if you have Kia ,You buy an other kia your next car ?. 3 answers Yes , No , i don’t known . ecc
