Kia Lotze Innovation vs. 2009 Kia Optima

We have first seen the 2009 Kia Optima at the New York Auto Show in April. For 2009 model year, Kia Optima received a mid-cycle facelift and a fresh new look.

The update goes from head to tails, starting with narrowed headlamps, a trapezoidal grille that hints at a new face of Kia brand, and new, larger fog-lights.

The side sills and rear fascias have also been revised to provide more sportier look to Kia’s four-door family sedan. The revised Optima goes on sale this fall.

At the Busan Auto Show last week, Kia presented it’s refreshed Optima sedan to Korean consumers for the first time. Kias sold in Korea oftenly get minor exterior details such as differently shaped grille or rear LED-lights that provide a more upscale look to the overall appearance of the vehicle. Kia’s introduction of the Lotze Innovation made me think: Will there be any noticable differences between the Optima and Korean Lotze Innovation?

Have a look for yourself by comparing the 2009 Lotze Innovation images with the 2009 Optima below and let us know what you see.

  1. And one more difference is inside. the Lotze has chilled cup holders where as optima doesnt.
    .
    the Lotze definately looks better.

  2. I AM NOT PARTICULAR ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE IN STYLING, BECAUSE IT IS SUBTLE, BUT I DO LIKE THE LOTZE GRILLE OVER THE MAGENTIS (OPTIMA)

  3. yes. thats the grille we had seen in spy shots [or maybe they were teasers]. I really wish the H-grille was on optima…

  4. Actually the Lotze chromed grill is beautifull, the Optima with the regular black grill looks a bit like a ford!!!!
I heard the 4 cyl. engine has been upgraded from 162 to 175 h.p.,

  5. its a BIG mistake from kia for not using that grille worldwide. if they want to establish their trademark grille and sporty image, little things like that count. cost cutting isnt an option anymore. i like the korean lotze infinitely more than the optima which is a disappointment in my eyes, and it was the subtle differences that affected my opinion.

  6. Well, we can see the what looks to be an H-grille on the new sorento. We could expect to see the LX and EX optima with the same grille. I’d be disapointed if not.

  7. no one notice the H in a glance if it was black. chrome gets some attention and shows contrast.

  8. I don’t see how a black grille can look like a ford. ford uses immensely ugly plastic chrome-colored grilles. NASTY!

  9. O wow! those LEDs look great! I dont see a reason for why Kia doesnt offer LEDs on their global models
