Kia Amanti tops US green index survey

Kia announced that Amanti sedan topped the large car segment in the newest Strategic Vision automotive metric, the SmartGreenIndexSM (SGISM), in the U.S. The SGI reflects the relationships between perceived quality and issues including fuel economy and environmental friendliness.

According to the SGI report, Rondo, Spectra, Sportage compact SUV, Sorento mid-size SUV and Sedona also scored highest in their respective segments. These placements further express consumers are taking note of Kia’s efforts in providing stylish, comfortable and economically-friendly vehicles.

“Seeing Amanti at the top of the SmartGreenIndex is a testament to our continuing consumer satisfaction,” said Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing, KMA. “We also are very proud of the other Kia vehicles recognized by Strategic Vision and consumers, further exemplifying Kia as a consumer-minded manufacturer committed to offering quality, fuel-efficient vehicles to smart, discerning customers.” [Source: Kia Motors America]

  1. “Seeing Amanti at the top of the SmartGreenIndex is a testament to our continuing consumer satisfaction,” yeah but people actually need to buy them??!?!?!?!? hurry up and bring us the new one.

  2. They would sell more if they had better advertising. People don’t know about it, and people really don’t think to go to a Kia dealership for a luxury car.

  3. Yeah Greg thats actually very true. However, I don’t think this car even deserves to be called a luxury vehicle… anyways thats besides the point. They should have designed something that makes you want to drive it and engineered it to match the looks… sure they engineered it to match the looks – thats why its not selling… my two cents worth~

  4. Well, the beauty is in the eye of the beholder… Just the opposite from Greg, I think this car’s design sucks!(Sorry Kia!).
Just yesterday when I was driving on the motorway back home (I went to university for some paper work ) I was overtaken by Amanti- called Opirus here. It was the pre_facelifted model with Italian registration plates.
This was my third time I saw the Opirus in-person, and I still think it’s…ugly.

I think that Opirus was on sale in Slovenia, but not more than 5 units were sold in all these years. One still sits at the largest Kia dealer floor, here in Slovenia. That tells you everything. Especially in Europe, Asian sedans larger than Optima don’t sell well, especially if not designed attractivelly! People here are very image conscious and they only buy bimmers, audis and mercedezzzzs.
