US: Kia announces best June sales ever

Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced its best June ever with record sales of 28,292 units, an increase of 7.6 percent over the same period last year, and year-to-date sales of 157,619 units, an increase of 2.1 percent over the same period last year.

For the just completed quarter, the company reported sales of 89,405 units.

Kia’s June record sales were led by Spectra and Optima, with 7,131 and 6,865 units sold respectively.

Small car Rio and family vacation favorite Sedona also had strong sales with 3,337 units and 3,719 units respectively, both increases over the same period last year.

“As the economy continues to fluctuate, consumers are turning to vehicles that are known for value and quality,” said Byung Mo Ahn, group president and CEO of KMA and Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia (KMMG). “Thanks to a strong marketing plan and the hard work of the Kia dealer network, Kia continues to have success during this difficult economic time.”

  1. It did? Maybe it did but its always the lowest. anyway, I dont care much for amanti
but I dont like what I see with sportage and sorento.

  2. big drop in Rondo sales, but I think they can’t get enough product. However, they still beat the Mazda 5, which sold 1,416 units for June – maybe they are having the same problem too?

  3. Go Amanti! What happened? I know. Word of mouth. That is the same reason people are buying Optima too. Actually, that is just 1 reason. Another reason is that you can get almost the same items on an Amanti for 20,000 less than a Cadillac. Amanti is a great value, and a great looking car. Williams Kia ran out of Amantis. Same with Optima. Why buy an Accord, Camry, or fusion, when you can get the same items and a better looking car for thousands less? Plus Kia’s warranty. That is why Kia is kicking ass!!

  4. This makes me super excited I just started working for a Kia dealership and i was a little nervous about going into the car industry with crazy declines across most of the industry. Look like i made a smart choice!

  5. Kia should excel now, a good number of their cars get pretty good gas mileage. And that Warranty, I took the Warranty my ’08 Lancer GTS has in to consideration when buying that particular Mitsubishi. Finbarr O’ Neill, former Hyundai CEO, took the Hyundai/Kia Warranty with him when he left for Mitsubishi earlier this decade. With it covering the powertrain up to 100,000 miles, you are in a good position to have a strong running car for a long time. Which you should have when you buy a new car, eh?
