Sportage SUV Listed Among 10 Best Back-To-School Cars Of 2013
Kelley Blue Book recently named the Kia Sportage to the list of their 10 Best Back-to-School Cars of 2013.
The sporty compact SUV took the number 6 spot on the list, with aggressive styling, fun to drive features and fuel economy being the major factors that launched it into the top 10.
The editors at Kelley Blue Book choose the cars on the Best Back to School list based on factors that include vehicle attributes, including fuel economy, safety, style, versatility and value.
They look for things that would be appreciated by students and parents alike. On the 2013 Kia Sportage, the best of those would be the Kia’s UVO powered by Microsoft voice-activated infotainment system, offered standard for the EX and SX trims, enabling drivers and passengers to speak via hands-free phone, access music from a variety of media sources and create custom music experiences all with voice-activation.
Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst for Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com, said that you can get a lot for $20,000 nowadays.
He pointed to the Kia Sportage as proof of that, with the large number of standard features and great warranty being definite pluses. He also pointed to the fact that the Sportage was recognized as a 2013 IIHS Top Safety Pick.
The annual list appears on the KBB.com website and is the go to destination for college students and parents looking for advice on choosing a car they can both live with.
Kia is no stranger to this list, with the Soul landing in the top spot in 2012.
The addition of the Sportage to this year’s list makes it 2 in a row for the Korean automaker.
Michael Sprague, executive vice president of marketing & communications, KMA, said that the addition of the Sportage in the KBB list was a sign that the company was definitely making strides in the ultra-competitive CUV segment.
What he believes was even more important was the fact that Sportage was included on a back to school list.
Kia has been partnering with organizations such as the B.R.A.K.E.S Teen Pro-Active Driving School and DonorsChoose.org, with the goal being lending support to both student drivers and teachers.
