Refreshed Kia Cee’d 5-Door Hatchback Spied Up Close

This heavily camouflaged 5-door hatchback prototype signals the arrival of the refreshed Kia cee’d!

The second-generation Kia cee’d has been on the European market since 2012, so the time has come to give this highly-successful 5-door hatchback a little refresh for the 2016 model year.

Recently caught undergoing testing in South Korea, the revised Kia cee’d adopts a revised front fascia with updated Kia “tiger nose” signature grille, restyled headlights and new fog lamps.

cee'd spy shotsIt appears that some minor tweaks have also been made to the rear bumper and taillamps, while other changes are hard to spot thanks to the loads of camouflage covering the car’s body.

In terms of engines, the updated Kia cee’d will be offered with an array of revised gasoline and diesel engines.

The 1,0L 3-cylinder turbo engine is a new addition to the range and so is the 7-speed DCT gearbox.

In Europe, the cee’d will continue to offer a 1,6L diesel engine, however, for the new model year, the engine has been tweaked to provide more horsepower and torque.

Official Release Date of Kia cee’d Facelift

An official reveal of the 2016 Kia cee’d 5-door hatchback facelift will occur in the second half of this year.

  1. Cee’d facelift already? What’s interesting is Kia models are getting facelifts and/or redesigns when their current models hardly looks outdated. The Sportage design currently in the market, is one of the oldest crossovers in it’s class that hasn’t gotten no facelift or redesign as of yet and still looks more fresh than the Escape, Outlander, Rav-4, CR-V, Equinox and even the Rouge. This goes for the prefacelift cee’d as well. The cee’d is older than the Focus yet the Kia looks younger than the Ford.
