Official: KX3 Concept Gets AWD and 1.6L Turbo Engine
Most of the automotive world have their eyes firmly set on the ongoing Los Angeles Motor Show, but Kia has decided to unveil their new SUV concept in Guangzhou, China.
Not as crazy as you might think, since the vehicle previews a China-exclusive B-segment crossover vehicle.
Kia explained that the concept car was designed to appeal to younger Chinese consumers looking for high-quality and an outgoing lifestyle.
What is quickly apparent is that the KX3 is influenced by the current Sportage CUV.

The coupe-like roofline found on the Sportage is visible on the KX3, as is the high-rising beltline and strong wheel arches.
The tiger nose grille has been tweaked and had a chrome look with wraparound LED headlights.
According to Kia, the KX3 is 4,260mm long and 1,765mm wide, making it a little shorter and narrower than the current Sportage. Both are the same height, though.
Under the hood you will find a 1.6-liter turbo petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and AWD system.
While the car may only be a concept model, Kia engineers have ensured that the chassis is designed to achieve a 5-star C-NCAP rating.
On the inside, the description sounds like a car that is ready for production.
Kia says that the vehicle will have all the latest connectivity technology included, as well as a great selection of standard equipment and available options.
Even when creating a concept, Kia can’t stop trying to deliver great value.
There is no official word as to whether or not the car will go into production, although we have heard of several rumor suggesting that a production model could be ready as early as next year.
