New Kia Sportage named Best Crossover Vehicle

Diesel Car magazine names new Kia Sportage “Best Crossover Vehicle” in its annual Car of the Year issue!

Best Crossover” award is already the fifth title won by Kia’s all-new compact crossover vehicle in the UK in less than 12 month. Unveiled in July last year, the Sportage crossover vehicle has also picked up a range of awards from overseas organisations including the prestigious red dot Design award in Germany and numerous magazine and industry awards from United States and South Korea.

CarBuyer made Kia Sportage FWD its inaugural Car of the Year at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year, while Fleet News titled Kia‘s popular CUV as the “Best Crossover of 2011”. Another award comes from Total Off Road Magazine which named the Sportage the Best Junior SUV. The Association of Scottish Motoring Writers started the ball rolling with both Best SUV and Car of the Year titles in November of last year, according to Kia Motors UK.

“Winning Diesel Car titles is becoming something of a habit for Kia Motors and it is one we hope to continue. New Sportage crossover has attracted a large number of new people to the Kia brand, not only in the UK but also in other countries around the world, ” commented Michael Cole, Managing Director of Kia Motors UK.

“I hope that after the launch of our all new 2012 Rio sub-compact car later this year with an outstandingly economical and clean three-cylinder 1.1L diesel engine and the knock-out Optima due before the end of 2011 that we shall be picking up more recognition from January next year, ” added Michael Cole.
