It’s an exciting time for car lovers, with three major auto shows running simultaneously in New York, Bangkok, and Seoul.

Much of the attention is focused on the NYC show, which is where Kia has set its sights.

They is showing off the all-new Forte Koup, 2014 Soul, and the refreshed Optima 2014, while leaving a concept car, the Kia Cub, at home.

The cute little Cub was designed at the Kia HQ in Seoul and checks in at under 4-metres long.

It comes with rearward-opening rear doors and an “access all areas” interior design that has the B-pillars noticeably absent.

The Cub is reminiscent of the 2007 Kia Kee concept, with the automaker describing this one as having a cheerful face and daring character. It also reminds us of the KSC concept car.

That face features a broad wrap-around “mouth,” as well as a familiar dip on top of the windshield that is something of a Kia trademark. The redesigned grille is a little shallower and incorporates the turbochargers air intake.

The two-point LED headlights may remind some people of those that were first seen on the flagship Quoris sedan last year.

The car rides on huge 19-inch alloy wheels, and features front doors that have aerodynamic “turning vanes” that make the flanks more streamlined.

The all-new Kia Cub has the new 1-6-liter GDI engine, which is what will be seen in the upcoming Kia pro_cee’d GT and cee’d GT in Europe.

The 204-horsepower (265 Nm of torque) engine is paired to a six-speed manual gearbox in the “Euro hatches”, giving them a 0-100 km/h time of 7.7 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h.

Stay tuned for more Kia news and rumors!
