While it’s still quite some time off, there is already a ton of buzz out there surrounding the next-generation Kia Sorento.

The anticipation has grown thanks to spy shots being released of the vehicle during the testing phase.

There is also a great looking artist’s rendering that has been pieced together using those shots as inspiration.

While some of the elements of the car may remain a mystery, there are some things that we do already know about it, or that we can at least assume will be fact.

Built on the same platform as Kia Sedona

The most obvious is that the new Kia Sorento will get a whole new look inside and out.

The new model will ride on the same platform as the new Sedona, although it will be tweaked to include an AWD option. The vehicle will also deliver vastly improved ride and handling.

Engine line pp

US customers can expect to find a couple of different engine options under the hood.

The most likely engines choices would be a 3.3-liter GDI V6, and a 2.0-liter turbo that would crank out 264-hp.

The European market will likely get a 2.2-liter CRDI that will more than meet the EURO 6 emissions standards.

Official launch date

South Korea: We will all get a better idea of what will be in the finished articles when the 2016 Sorento gets officially unveiled in Korea this August.

USA: US customers looking to get up close and personal with the new vehicle will have to wait until it gets officially released at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

Europe: Europeans will see the premiere of the fully-redesigned Kia Sorento during the Paris Auto Show in October this year.
