Kia USA Sales Up 11% In October 2014

Kia Motors America today announced an 11 percent sales increase for October 2014, resulting in an October sales record!

The automaker sold 44,694 vehicles in October 2014 versus 39,754 in October 2013!

Kia’s year-to-date U.S. sales are up 7,4 percent with 489,711 vehicles sold versus 456,137 over the same period last year.

The sales in October 2014 were led by high demand for the US-made Optima midsize sedan and Sorento SUV with 11,840 and 7,656 units sold, respectively.

Kia Soul EV SalesAlso performing well last month was the iconic Soul crossover vehicle with sales of 11,840 units!

Majority of the Souls sold in October were fitted with either a 1,6L or 2,0L GDI gasoline engine, however, a small number of Soul electric cars have also been delivered to the first customers in the U.S.!

We have interviewed one of those first Soul EV owners from the USA recently, so make sure you visit the Kia-world blog tomorrow when we publish the interview here!

Other top performers for the brand were the Forte compact car, Sportage SUV and Sedona MPV with sales of 5190, 3743 and 2376 units, respectively.

Kia’s range also features two vehicles that have been selling slightly lower numbers that we all expected.

The luxury car segment is tough to break and that’s exactly what Kia has experienced with the K900 luxury car and Cadenza premium sedan.

  1. I would say, that if they are not separate on the above list, then they are not going to do it, as they would have sold some EV’s in October. Maybe they might change their mind later – it should be separate.
