Kia Sales Figures For February 2015 (Only 48 Soul EVs Sold)

Kia Motors America releases official sales figures for the month of February 2015!

Kia emerged from an icy February with better than expected sales performance.

The automaker’s sales rose 6,8 percent, for a total of 44,030 units, as the brand benefited from strong demand for their all-new crossover vehicles and family sedans.

February sales were led by Optima mid-size sedan, iconic Soul, and the all-new Sorento CUV.

The fully redesigned Sorento crossover recorded the sales increase of 18 percent with monthly sales figures hitting 8,518 units (3rd best-seller in Kia range!).

The long time sales leader Optima continued to perform well, selling 11,584 units, while the iconic Soul crossover recorded the sales of 9,965 units.

Meanwhile, electric version of the Soul EV has been a pretty slow performer for the brand during the first two months of the year (probably due to limited availability).

So far this year, Kia has managed to move 69 Soul EVs in January and 48 units in February (117 all together).

There were two other Kia models that performed exceptionally well last month. Those included the all-new Sedona MPV and the Sportage CUV.

Kia Sedona increased its sales 5 times over the same month a year ago, while Sportage nearly doubled its sales from February 2014.

Kia Forte has seen a slight increase in sales too, while Rio sub-compact car posted a slight decrease.

February 2015 Sales Highlights

  • top-seller for the month: Kia Optima with 11,584 units sold!
  • Sedona MVP sales up 5 fold from the same month a year ago!
  • year-to-date Kia sales up 5 percent!
  • Soul electric vehicle sales hit 48 units!

  1. 569 less Soul’s sold in 2015 so far compared to the number of Soul’s sold by this time in the year 2014. Interesting.

  2. This country had a rough winter. I’m suprised car manufactuers still saw an increase over a year ago. Anyway, I saw a new Sedona for the first time in a parking lot last night. It looks better in person. It has a very stylish side CUVlike profile. Once the weather breaks I expect Sorento and Sedona to take off in sales. I can see the Sedona between 6K to 8K a month on adverage because it looks so much like a CUV.

  3. I agree, jtz. Really interested in Kia’s new Trailster concept as it closely follows the Soul in its lines. I acquired a 2011 Kia Soul after my 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS gave up the ghost on a hot early June afternoon in 2014. I was heading south to El Paso and the car prematurely blew its serpentine belt, which let loose the water pump and actually let loose the timing chain inside the engine compartment. Engine shot…the nasty thing is is that Mitsubishi knew about the defective serpentine belt on the car and was about to recall the belt as defective and replace it under Warranty. Was I able to collect on this as it caused me to trade my Lancer GTS in on another rig? Answer: no. Mitsubishi told me that I should have called them right as the car was broken down and they would’ve helped me.

Right. I’m done with Mitubishi and glad to be back with the Kia fold…the Soul is my 3rd Kia and besides a blown alternator experienced on the ’01 Sportage 4X4 none of my Kia’s has left me stranded on the side of the road.

Nice to have the 5-speed stick on the Soul, nice shifting action, improved over the Sportage 4X4 and Sephia’s shifter…all three of my Kia’s have been stick shifts.

  4. Rough winter you had yes………it is Autumn in Australia and is 35C still and our winter where Iam is around average 20C

  5. KIA Canada was down 4.2% overall vs February 2014. However, the Soul was the best selling KIA model (beat the Sorento by just 4 units) up 38.6% and YTD its up 28.6% over 2014.

  6. John Yanoscik Jr – check with your local dealer, but currently EV’s are only available in California at present, but they are talking about making them more widely available but only in certain states.

  7. 7 Soul EV’s were sold in Canada for February. One of the worst months weather-wise in many parts of Canada.
