Kia Releases Official Image Renderings Of The Next-Generation Sorento SUV

2

A pair of teaser images have been released by Kia ahead of the official unveiling of the third generation Sorento SUV, which is set to take place in South Korea in August.

The teaser sketches are somewhat what you would expect, as they do a fantastic job of showing off the fantastic new styling of the car.

The roofline has been lowered and the wheels made much larger. The front of the car is especially bold, with the tiger nose grille leading the way nicely.

A look along the side profile reveals muscular wheel arches and a roof-mounted spoiler around back.

There are definite influences taken from the Cadenza and K900. The Sorento was put together with a combined effort from the Kia design studios in the US, Germany, and South Korea.

Previous spy shots have revealed that this is going to be a bigger version of the Sorento, which will likely mean a longer wheelbase, which in turn also means more cabin space in the form of more legroom in the second and third rows.

It is believed that the engines from the outgoing model will remain the same, although there is talk that a hybrid with a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine teamed up with an electric motor and a 47 kWh lithium-polymer battery will be made available.

Kia will, as mentioned earlier, reveal the new Sorento in South Korea in late August. It is also slated to make an appearance at the Paris Motor show in early October.

It should arrive in Kia showrooms in the latter part of the year or early in 2015.
