Kia Owners Talk: Kia Optima owned by Carol

Hi, I’m Carol Dumas. I’m from Manistee, Michigan, USA. I am 41 yrs old.

I work as a revenue auditor for the local casino. I love to do gardening and spend time with my children. I love to drive my car.

1. How long have you owned your Optima?
7 months.

2. What cars did you own before?
A mix of 26 Chryslers, Dodges, and Oldsmobiles. Except for a Buick Riviera, and a Mercury Grand Marquis. Also a Kia Spectra.

3. Honestly, what was your intention when you bought your Optima?
I fell in love with it. I actually had no intention to buy a new car.

4. In a few words, describe the style of your Optima?
Unique, beautiful, simple, upscale, and luxurious.

5. What do you like the most about Optima?
Do I have to choose? The…Seat warmers!

6. Is there anything you don’t like about it?

7. What is it that makes your Optima look unique?
The grille is black, while most Optima grilles are silver. The chrome accents and just the fact that it’s a Kia.

8. What accessories have you installed so far?
Custom front license plate, interior matching leather trash bag.

9. What’s next?
Add a spoiler, sunroof deflector within the year.

10. Who will help you modify your Optima?
Probably just my son, Greg.

11. Products of which tuning company are you hoping to use?
I’m really not into the brand stuff. If it is cheap, and a good product, I will probably get it.

12. How would you rate your car; on a scale from 1 to 10?
For sure a 10.

13. How would you pimp your ride if you had no limits?
I would add a couple of turbo-chargers, and some LED lights. Add a sunroof deflector and rear spoiler.

14. What do people say about your Optima?
That they wish they had one, and many people swear that a Kia couldn’t look so good.

15. What would you advise to Kia owners who might be looking to customize their cars in future?
Just do what you want. After all, it is your car.

16. Do you see yourself as a Kia owner in the future?
For sure. I will never own anything else.

Thank you Carol!

  1. AT last a REAL Kia with no modifications. one thing you should have been careful about while taking a pic of the lit gauges is turn off the flash. Optima’s design is really nice. BTW, was the cabin pic taken though the sunroof?

  2. Nice article and pics Carol !! The Optima is a really nice car that unfortunately seems to remain “under the radar” of most new car buyers in America. The interior of this vehicle (especially in EX trim like yours) is in particular remarkably well done in quality materials, aircraft- tight fitting panels, and excellent ergonomic design. More people should sit in one and destroy their pre-conceived bias against Kia !

  3. Great car Carol&Greg! The interior looks very nice on Optima and I don’t know why Kia changed it on 09 model!
Anyway, thanx for beeing here with us Carol!
BTW, how many miles did you put on your Optima so far?

  4. I am partial to red for car colors, so I’m glad you guys went back to Ruby Red. That blue, however, was a knockout color. Red is my favorite color, though, and the new Optima’s are great and unique designs. Enjoy it!

  5. I work at a Kia dealership in Gettysburg Pennsylvania, Id have to say the Optima is one of my favorites out of all the Kia’s. A fully loaded optima with heated leather seats, dimming mirror, electric everything can be purchased for around 15,000-16,000 dollars. You cant even buy a based model Camry for that price, and the Optima is just as good as the camry if not better. If you are against Kia’s and think they are bad cars just go out and test drive one an check it out, they are really great cars. And they dont break all the time like people say they are very relieable rarely do i see them come back to the shop for stuff breaking. I only see them come back for Oil changes.

  6. hi fellas
I am going to buy a new wheels. Wish to have an up market model, but have no ideas what to choose… Can somebody advise me something?

  7. Wow!!! Eagetmayday, you’ve left yourself wide open there, it depends what you want to start with and how much you want to spend. You’ve got a wide range of vehicles to pick from the Kia vehicles on offer.
Do you only want a frugal city car like the Picanto. Or slightly bigger, like the Rio, or bigger again like the Optima. Do you want a family vehicle like the Rondo or do you want to go 4WD’ing with the Sportage, Sorento or even the Borrego. A lot of these vehicles depend on where you come from of course and whether they are available in your country.
So you had better narrow your field of what you really want and someone here is bound to help you. Have fun!!
