Kia Motors Posts 13.9% Global Sales Growth In January 2013

Kia Motors Corporation has kicked off a new year with double-digit growth with January 2013 global sales soaring nearly 14 percent for a total of 211,088 units.

The Rio sub-compact car was Kia’s top-selling vehicle in January, followed by Cerato compact car and Sportage crossover vehicle.

Known also as Kia K2 in China and Korea, the B-segment Rio recorded the sales of 35,860 units, while the all-new Cerato (known also as Forte in the USA) posted total sales of 33,940 units.

Following the top two selling Kia models in January 2013 were the Sportage CUV, Optima mid-size sedan and Sorento crossover vehicle with 30.565, 19.962 and 14.881 units sold, respectively.

Kia sales during the first month of 2013 were particularly strong in China and the United States.

In China, Kia recorded a double digit year-on-year growth with sales soaring as much as 50 percent.

Kia’s China monthly sales reached an all-time high 57,575 units thanks to the growing popularity of the automaker’s new models, such as Kia K2 and Kia K3 (known as Kia Forte).

Additionally, the South Korean second-largest carmaker posted positive sales gains in all other major regions, including Europe (+6.3%  with 38,059 units sold), North America (39,975 units sold) and  in General Markets* (39,229 units sold).

  1. Thhhhe current Kia Rio is racking up production numbers and quality-time in production, so your Rio is no doubt going to be put together well. You will get one that should not have to go back to your dealer for repairs. Generally. And that is good.
