Kia Motors America Announces March 2013 Sales Figures

Kia has just completed a first quarter that ranks as second-best in company history.

Kia Motors America -KMA) announced sales figures for March, and the news is good.

Much of the credit for the 49,125 units sold has to go to the three new technology-laden vehicles recently unveiled at the New York Auto Show.

The numbers were enough to give Kia its second best first quarter sales in company history.

The Optima midsize sedan once again led the way – for the 16th straight month, no less – with 14,366 units sold. The Sorento CUV and the Soul urban passenger vehicle also did incredibly well.

Upcoming Kia Cars

The 2013 is going to be a big year for Kia with no less than seven all-new or newly redesigned vehicles set to be introduced.

The all-new 2014 Sorento arrived in February and the all-new 2014 Forte compact sedan should be in dealerships by April.

A trio of cars (Soul, 2014 Forte Koup, and the facelifted Optima) that were unveiled at the New York Auto Show are all scheduled to arrive in showrooms in the late summer/early fall period.

After the 2014 Forte arrives, the next car introduced into the current Kia lineup will be the 2014 Cadenza.

Kia promises that this vehicle will be the most technologically-advanced, power release they have deliver to the US to date.

  1. I see the problem in the following cars: FORTE, Sportage and Sedona. The rest of the range is doing ok!

If you add 3k units for the Forte, 1k for Sportage and 2k for Sedona, (to their current numbers) you get close to the previous sales record.

So the reason for lower sales are old model which are going to be replaced or updated within a year.

  2. yes forte, sportage and sedona were the problems. sedona is gone and done. but why sportage? it’s ALWAYS short. i dont get it. so they have no interest with tucson/sportage in usa? is that why crv and rav4, escape sell like crazy??? forte i donno, unless they build it here they wont have be available. no way they can ship 12k / month. look at elantra. 3 lineups and bamm, 26k last month that is crazy . #3 in compact car sales and they’re right behind corolla. so even forte was to sell 12k-14k they got long way to go and it’s not even built here. how can you make more cars if you’re running flat out and overnight shifts? build another factory. why have’nt they done that. still blows my mind. that is so stupid. i want to see kia do well esp in compact car/cuv range but it’s opposite, they wont make it but they want to sell more? uhhh
