Kia lifts production target for cee’d
Kia Motors Europe announced today it has raised its 2008 target for production of the new cee’d compact car in Slovakia by 25 per cent.
Thanks to strong demand across entire Europe, Kia raised the production of the C’eed model at the Slovak plant to as much as 250,000 units.
Originally, the company planned the annual sales of 200,000 units confirmed Bae In-kyu, head of the automaker’s plant in Slovakia.
Driven by higher sales of the five-door hatchback model, Kia, and its affiliate Hyundai Motor Co. is trying to increase its market share in Europe.
Kia produces three cee’d models at its Slovak plant including the cee’d 5-door hatchback, pro_cee’d 3-door and cee’d Sporty Wagon.
“This year, the Slovak plant aims to produce 150,000 C’eed units,” said Bae, who is accompanying Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico during the European leader’s visit to South Korea.
