Kia, A Company Lavished With Car Awards

The name, Kia, is roughly translated as “rising out of Asia.”

Kia Motors was established in 1944 to construct bicycles and motorcycles. It began to produce cars in 1974, making it South Korea’s oldest car manufacturer.

The Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group is now the fifth-largest vehicle manufacturer in the world, producing over 1.4 million vehicles every year at 14 plants in eight countries.

AutoPacific is a trusted automotive marketing and consulting firm.

Two of Kia’s most popular cars received Vehicle Satisfaction Awards from this company.

The Optima sedan was the Most Satisfying Mid-Size Car while the Sportage was named the Most Satisfying Company Crossover SUV.

AutoPacific used the responses of over 52,000 vehicle owners to rate 294 cars from 33 brands in 51 attributes.

The Kia Sorento has acquired a number of awards for its towing capability.

It received the Caravan Club’s Towcar of the Year award for three years running, was the Best MPV in the Practical Caravan/What Car? Towcar Awards and was voted the Best Towcar by readers of of the Caravan Times.

It also received Total 4×4 Magazine’s Best SUV award for two consecutive years.

Car Design Award – Red Dot

Red Dot awards have been given by the Design Centre of North Rhine-Westphalia since 1955, and these awards are now one of the most prestigious for design in all the world: an internationally-acclaimed seal of quality.

In 2013, 1,865 companies submitted 4,662 products for consideration by a 37-strong jury.

The Kia pro_cee’d was named Best of the Best in the product design category.

The Sportswagon, Cee’d and Carens compact MPVs were designated as winners. Kia has won 10 of these awards since 2009.

JD Power

JD Power is the largest automobile consumer research company in the world. Its surveys are much-respected in the automotive world.

The British survey was of 16,000 car owners and 116 models.

The Kia Soul was the Highest Ranked Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle in Initial Quality and had the Highest Ranked Vehicle Appeal Among Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicles.

The Optima mid-size sedan was the Highest Ranked Vehicle Appeal Among Midsize Cars In A Tie.

50 Best Global Green Brands of 2013

Kia was one of Interbrand’s 50 Best Global Green Brands of 2013. The Optima and Sorento were named as 2013 Automotive Best Buy Selections by Consumers Digest.

Top Safety Pick Award

Kia has been recognised by governmental bodies.

The US Insurance Institute of Highway Safety was deeply impressed by Kia’s cars, naming the Optima, Sorento, Soul, Forte and Sportage as 2013 Top Safety Picks.

This award is much-coveted, and to receive it, a vehicle must perform well in crash tests that simulate front, side, rear and rollover accidents, with the rollover aspect proving particularly difficult.

The US Environmental Protection Agency SmartWay Certification Mark is awarded to the most fuel-efficient vehicles, and the Kia Forte, Optima, Rio and Sportage were thus honoured.

More official recognition came from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which gave the Optima and Sportage a five-star crash safety rating and the Sorento and Soul a five-star side crash safety rating.

Kia doesn’t just receive awards – it also issues them to reinforce its brand image and sponsors sporting events.

Kia cars are given as prizes to winners of the Kia Performance Awards.

The awards cover many realms of endeavour, including golf, basketball and American football.
