Kia takes the wraps off its long-awaited K9 rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan!

After showing us a couple of KH teaser sketches earlier this month, Kia today released the very-first official images of the new K9 luxury sedan.

Although the model was first teased as a KH sedan, Kia announced its first-ever rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan is going to bear a K9 nomenclature when it goes on sale in South Korea. The K9 nomenclature was picked to better fit with the other Korean market models, such as Kia K5 (Optima) and Kia K7 (Cadenza), state Kia representatives.

How to build a concept car?

Written by himi on Monday, February 20th, 2012 in General News.

How to build a concept car? The video reveals how Kia built its eye-catching Track’ster concept vehicle.

One of the biggest draws at any car show is the concept vehicles that automakers put together for the event. They are the equivalent of the runway fashion show in that these styles will probably never see the light of day, and the average consumer will never get to actually try one out.

That doesn’t detract from the fun though, and one of the concept cars that drew the biggest rave reviews at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show was the Kia Track’ster.

The stunning design of the 3-door, 250 horsepower hatchback was a major part of its allure, but what excited many of the Kia fans on hand was that they could easily envision many of those design elements being incorporated into future generations of the Soul crossover.

2012 Kia Optima SX limited debuts at Chicago Auto Show…

The Kia Optima sedan has always been a vehicle that made consumers take a second look, and it did it again at the Chicago Auto Show. It was there that Kia Motors America unveiled production plans for the Optima SX Limited.

Due to begin production at the West Point, Georgia manufacturing plant in late February, the 2012 Optima Limited will feature the fuel efficiency and class-leading horsepower that has always been the staple of the Optima SX, but will also be given a number of design and amenity enhancements that should help distance it even further from other vehicles in its class.

You don’t have to have been in attendance at the Chicago Auto Show to be in on those plans, as the Optima Limited was introduced to the masses in the extremely popular “Drive the Dream” Super Bowl commercial.

Turbocharged Kia Track’ster concept car with all-wheel-drive (AWD) system makes its official public debut in Chicago!

Kia Track’ster, a high-performance Soul-based hatchback, is not only one of the hottest concepts at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show, but also one of the most attractive Kia concept vehicles ever. And it’s not just pleasing to our eyes, but pretty fast as well.

According to Kia, the Track’ster concept features a turbo-charged 2.0L four-cylinder engine with impressive 250 horsepower and short-throw six-speed manual transmission. The stylish three-door concept vehicle, which points towards a dramatic addition to the Soul range, also packs an an electronically controlled all-wheel drive system!

Although Kia has been seriously considering to expand the Soul line-up by introducing a drop-top Soul’ster (remains under evaluation for production), there are currently no plans for Track’ster production.

Kia Sales Report January 2012

Written by himi on Wednesday, February 8th, 2012 in Kia sales.

All great winning streaks come to an end at one time or another, but the sales streak that Kia Motors America is currently enjoying and shows no signs of slowing down at all.

January 2012 represented the seventeenth consecutive month of record sale for the South Korean second largest  automaker, and as if that weren’t enough, the percentage jump in sales seems to be getting more and more impressive with each passing month.

What’s even more impressive is that Kia isn’t relying on a single car to boost their sales, with very vehicle in their line-up playing its part in the sales success.

Kia Track’ster, the Soul-based concept vehicle, partially revealed ahead of Chicago Auto Show premiere!

Following an earlier teaser image, Kia Motors has released the very-first official image of its all-new Track’ster concept vehicle. The striking three-door concept car has been penned at Kia’s Californian design studio and is scheduled to bow at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show.

The official image released today only reveals the back-end of the Track’ster concept car. Thanks to the wide stance and lower roof, the concept certainly looks more aggressive than the current Soul CUV. A couple of chromed tail-pipes flanked by huge flared fenders provide the car with a sporty look, while large rear windscreen and high-mounted LED tail-lamps give the car a high-tech look.

Kia AutoSport to open new Columbus Kia dealership

Written by himi on Wednesday, February 1st, 2012 in General News.

There can be no denying that Kia Motors America is on a record breaking sales run that simply cannot be matched. That success is trickling down to dealership level, and that may be no more apparent than at Ed Braun’s Columbus location. His Kia AutoSport dealership will be taking residence in its new spot on Whittlesey Boulevard sometime in May.

The $7.5 million stat-of-the-art car dealership headquarters have been under construction since last October, but Braun said that the construction is now very close to completion. When the doors do open in mid to late May, they will do so on a 35,000 square foot showroom overlooking a 400 vehicle lot.
