Up-close images of the all-new Kia cee’d 5-door hatchback reveal more details about the car’s stylish exterior!

A new set of Kia cee’d spy shots have fallen into our hands thanks to our friends from South Korea. These photos showcase the forth-coming cee’d from all angles and reveal some pretty nice details surrounding the new hatchback!

While the new cee’d is a secret no more, the interior stays hidden from view… for now.

Scheduled to debut at Geneva Auto Show in March, the all-new cee’d will first be available as a 5-door hatchback. Later in the year, Kia will also introduce a three-door pro_cee’d and cee’d wagon. The eagerly-awaited Kia pro_cee’d will, reportedly, also be available as a “hot hatch” featuring a 180+ horsepower 1.6L GDI turbo engine.

According to latest sources close to Hyundai-Kia, the 1.6L GDI turbo engine will be a bit less potent than the unit available under the hood of just recently introduced Hyundai Veloster Turbo, but will have a higher torque figure and flatter torque curve.

Expect more details about the new 2013 Kia cee’d popping up on the web soon, so stay tuned!

Yes, I have to agree – only this is GT done better.

I am not happy about this. I mean this is after all the styling for the Kia GT. I really thought that the front fascia would be EXCLUSIVE to that model only.

    This is not good.

I wouldn’t be too worried “Fred” Styling changes as time goes on and we know we wont be seeing the GT for a little while longer. My guess would be that when the GT launches it will blow the pants off of everything “including other Kia cars”

Ummm….this is not the Kia GT styling. Who said that impropriety? This is the new world order Kia cee’d hatchback. Is this what they’re talking about when they say watch what you read on the internet? The GT is bigger, larger and possessing more class than this car. And it’s a coupe’de sedan, not a hatchback.

    better than ever

The only thing shared from the GT is the grille which appears to stand up at 90 degrees. The headlights appear to be more Kia K9ish. I’m really impressed with the muscle outline on the cee’d. It’s not over done or too little but just right.

  10. Corwin Says:

    January 19th, 2012 at 5:56 pm

Yes Brian, we are aware that this is NOT the GT. What Fred and myself as well as JTZ have been talking about is the styling cues that are similar to the GT. The Grill being pretty much the only similarity, but unarguably similar to the GT. I think what Fred was saying was that its too bad that the GT didn’t have an exclusive grill…..I would agree. Where did you get the idea that everyone thinks this is the GT??

    Thank you Corwin!!!!!

Talk about running away with part of the information instead of reading the whole! Bryan needs to get his facts straight.

I do hope you are right Corwin cause I been waiting on K9 and that is not happening it seems. Jumping ship from Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury I want the GT to be UNIQUE and really stand on it own and not compared as or similar too. I thing when Kia is going into this direction of Luxury don’t fall into the mistake of the Genesis and Equus which looked liked a combination of Mercedes in Front and BMW in the Rear.

As they say you only get one chance to make a lasting impression.

You guys were just over-nerd-ing this view of the cee’d 5-door and doing what P.Schreyer has already done. That is, design great looking cars. Why do certain people always have to take parts of cars and talk about how they have cues from Mitsu, hindquarters from Audi….blah-blah-blah-blah. Nothing is really being stated. You’re just talking photo-chop-shop. Oh well. Have at it. Just look at one design at a time and enjoy it. They all borrow and share off of each other and about each other. Every so often a manufacturer will build a rig that is all theirs and it’s a great car. Example: the 2008 Mitsubishi EVO X and Lancer GTS. Nothing borrowed from anybody else and everything looking as sharp as a thistle. That’s what I’m talkin’ about. Ford did the same with their 1964 1/2 Mustang. Beautiful. That’s all I’m talkin’ about and that’s what I’m talkin’ about.

I wanna See Rondo shots as well JTZ! I hope we will see something soon, I am getting anxious. Oh and I don’t want to get you started on your van rant JTZ but I want to see that as well. I will be buying one or the other depending on looks and handling…..and yes I know the van wont handle like the much lighter rondo would.

Was I banned or something like this? Why didn’t my comments appear? I only said that in my opinion this “Kia cee’d 2013 is the most good-looking car of its category”. And I just hope its dynamic performance surpasses Focus’ and Golf’s.

If I had funding I’d go stake out the tech center in Ann Arbor. It’s only 150 miles (3 hours) away from me.

  17. jtz Says:

    January 21st, 2012 at 1:41 am

Hey Greg you may have to do that. And also I wanna see the Sedona too. You can tell the two mpvs are groundbreaking by the way Kia is hiding them. Hey Greg if or when you go to Ann Arbor you may have to watch for the next Forte. I don’t believe the K3 is the Forte. I don’t even think the red car from the 17th of Aug was the Forte neither. Just like many thought the K2 was the Rio. I believe the real Forte is being tested in the same areas the Rio sedan was. That secret spot is where Sedona and Rondo must be……. Ann Arbor. To Greg. If you go there check parkinglots. Car testers test cars for hours and have to go eat at fast food restaurants. Check there around 12 to 1:30 pm.

  18. jtz Says:

    January 21st, 2012 at 1:45 am

And make sure no one is in the car. I hear Kia testers are the most aggressive. You gotta be real careful. I hear car manufacturers have accused many for trustpassing. Which to me is BS. No one broke into their R&D and if you are on a MC Donald’s parking lot available to the public that’s just BS.

I did mention “If I had funding….”. Right now my travel funds are dedicated to Chicago and New York autoshows. I’m glad I didn’t waste my money going to Detroit.

  21. jtz Says:

    January 21st, 2012 at 6:13 pm

Yeah if you had funding. I get it. I rather save for the Chicago and New York autoshows too. Anyway, you are very very lucky to have saw what you saw the other week. The Rondo has got to be grounbreaking just look at the Venga, Soul and Sportage RVs. Therefore, I gotta assume that the Rondo is going to be a serious headturner. Especially since in a way is a sationwagon for the Optima but seats high up like a CUV. You know what would really make the next Rondo a real hit? Give the Rondo an available hybrid engine shared from the Optima/Sonata. Kia do that and that midsize mpv would be a serious seller. Also if it is going to be on the Optima platform, might as well build it in Georgia. Kia’s next Rondo and Sedona are going to be bad, mean, scary, aggressive, sporty, grounbreaking, fast, stylsih, innovative, powerful, something square, fancy, unique, something I don’t even know yet but I will find out or my name ain’t jtz. You can really tell these too mpvs are going to grounbreaking btw Kia is hiding them as long as possible. Anytime a brand confirms a next generation car is arriving and you have not seen spy shots and it is supposed to arrive late this year means A LOT…. trust me. Kia is up to something with the two mpvs. And if that list of Kia’s future products is true from thekoreaencarblog, then those two MPVS have got to be tested with the next generation Kia Borrego/Mohave. Oh yeah I’m not through. There is a few Kia RVs I can sense…. and it’s not just the Rondo and Sedona that’s for damn sure. Plus don’t forget about that B segment awd CUV too.

  22. jtz Says:

    January 21st, 2012 at 6:25 pm

A new thought. Naimo. I brought up Naimo because I gotta assume that the Naimo design may not be a production verion of the car but a design language for what is supposed to arrive. Think about it. Remember Kia confirmed that they were arriving with a bigger electric crossover? What if Kia is just getting its consumers prepared for what is to come? I bet you that this B segment electric crossover is siting in a secured room in Ivrine Cal next to the Rondo. I bet you guys the next Rondo has design languages not only from the KV7 but the Naimo as well. Speaking of KV7 don’t think those headlights are just for that concept. I can see the KV7 being a design direction for the Sedona and Naimo. I also think the Naimo is a design direction for the next generation Soul too. Like I said eariler that red car from the 17th of Aug, I don’t think that is the Forte. I believe that there is at least 5 to 7 Kia’s being tested in that same area the 2012 Rio sedan was being tested. Yes that is my conclusion. I also believe that the B segment electric CUV has been outside too. Here is another new thought. What if the next cee’d arrives over here as the Forte hatch?

It sucks. I can’t think of any new thoughts or clues. I need to see more than just the cee’d. I need to see the K9′s exterior naked. I need to see if it’s muscular or not and what Kia it looks like. Does it have some GT kues? Maybe it does maybe it doens’t. Does it have a little Kia Kue in it? It’s just something strange about the way Kia is hidding the K9. Now the C pillar from the K9 is off the Kia Kue’s rear pillar. BUT I CAN’T MAKE OUT THE REST OF THE EXTERIOR. Sure there are many K9 spy shots but they are all useless. Nothing new and nothing peeled off. And then they have ugly photoshops. I don’t think it looks like that. YOU GUYS EVER SEEN THE MOViE “STEPHEN KING’S IT?” It’s like when I look at the Kia K9 my mind can’t grasp what Im seeing. I try making it out but can’t. Just like Pennywise the dancing clown. It only takes a form our minds will allow. Richie saw it as a warewolf, Ben saw it has his father, Eddie saw a clown, and Bill Denbrough (the one who lost his brother to IT in Fall of 1957) saw it as George. But it’s a shape behind the clown. Some kind of light. Deadlights. Anyway, there is some type of style underneath the K9′s black cover. Something grounbreaking. Bill almost saw it.

Yeah jtz, we’re running out of clues or information… We need more spy shots. Personally I think the kkksstudio render of K9 is the most accurate one compared to the final K9 as long as they got the K3 right.

I wanna talk about the Volt. It turns out that all that hype from GM was all for nothing. That vehicle is so bad, Chevy retailers refuse to buy it. You see, I think the darn car didn’t spend enough time in R&D. They should have started out small and worked their way up.

Today is the day Kia and Mazda race. It is the Forte Koup verses the Mazda 3. Will the Forte win or the Mazda 3? Mazda is more experienced when it comes to sporty… Kia on the other hand is unpredictable or has the power to surprise. May the best car win. Who do you think will win? Bring it on Mazda, Kia is prepared to win this race. And tell Subaru WRX to prepare for an as whipping. Also Kia’s GT is ready for the Subby BRC. And tell Ford the Optima is ready to challenge the new stylish Fusion. Love that new Fusion. Finally a real design threat good enough for the Optima since, GM, Chrysler, Honda and Toyota can’t get the job done.

Also I saw the new CR-v. It still looks like a girly ride. I’m glad a man would not look strange driving the Sportage. That’s why the CR-v is number one in sales. Target it just for women. Too bad the Liberty is for women too and it ain’t top ten. Also I heard the new Land Rover EVO is not a good SUV even if it has a stylish exterior. I also hear Volvoo is seeking a brand for economy cars. I Hess Volvoo wants to tackle the Audi A1.

So I see the new Sante Fe finally broke cover. Haters are complaining about the design……… ignoring that the Chrysler Delta ain’t no more original too. But sine the Sante Fe is Korean its a copy of Nissan’s SUV….. and the Mazda CX-5′s greenhouse looks nothing like the Infinti EX’s. Lets hope the Sante Be makes top 10 best selling SUVs and shows that new Escape where to put it. So bring it on Ford. The Escape may no longer be a clone of Mazda but don’t worry the Sante Fe will sell well. However Hyundai expects sells to decline a little because if rivals. I don’t think so. Redesign the Equus and Genesis by making them more unique then Hyundai will have more winners. Heck the Genesis is a winner by outselling the 300 and TL. Bring it on Acura and Chrysler. And the Kia GT will gun down the Charger. And next Forte is ready to tackle the Dart. Dodge thinks they can be sporty like Kia huh? We’ll see about that. Tell Fiet it better be lucky the Ray and Picanto has no plans to arrive to the States…. because if it did, the Ray would whip that ass. So bring Fiet. Also tell VW the Jetta needs to prepare for an butt kicking with the cee’d. Now all we gotta do is wait for the K9 to whip that Ford Taurus butt. Bring it on Ford!!!!

Thanks for the info Ainnem. I’m glad to hear Mazda struggled beating the Koup. This type of race builds up Kia’s reputation from cheap to sporty… after all Kia is supposed to be sporty and by being in a race like that will change people’s perspective of what a Kia is today. In other words, that race made Mazda seem good and Kia even better. Bring it on Mazda. Just wait until the redesiged Koup arrives. What time will it come on the speed channel live streaming? I gotta see that. Also any new thoughts?

Off topic again. Guess what? I just saw the new Maserati Quattroporte. The face copied the Chrysler Fire Power concept. The tailights ripped off the 2012 Kia Optima’s. But since it’s not Korean, it’s orginal. No car design will ever escape me. I’m jtz. I’ll get cars from A to Z. Oh yeah the side grille on the Quattroporte is found on the Range Rover, Mini cooper, Lincoln Zypher (or another Lincoln sedan), Ford 500, Pontaic G8, Ford Focus (the 09′), but only the 2011 Optima, K2 Soul and K9 are the copies.

  31. jtz Says:

The Quattroporte’s black B pillars copied the VW CC’s.

Fiat. I’m so sick of Fiat braging about that 500. You know what? Remember how people complained about the Borrego’s name taking after the Chevy Borrego? Ain’t no one ging to say how the Fiat copied the Ford 500′s though. If it was a Kia 500 that would have been said. Just like people complained about the GT name on 10 other cars…… including the NIssan GT. But since those aren’t Korean they are orginal names. The headlights on the Fiat are off the VW Beatle, 2002 WRX, Dodge Neon, Jaguar S type, but only the 2004 Kia Amanti is the only one with circular headlights….. ignoring that those headlights are found on the Toyota FJ, Jeep Campass. Didn’t Merceds also have circular headlights too? Too bad the Picanto and Ray isn’t on sell to whip the 500′s behind.

Cars with kinks at the rear C pillar, that new Acura Sedan (whatever it’s called), Lexus IS, Pontiac Grand Prix…. but only the Kia GT is the copy…. ignroing that the Dodge Charger and the 4 door porsche panamera also having kinks at the rear making it look difficult for the person and the back to see out of when sitting at the rear.
