2012 Kia Rio 3-door makes its official debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show!
With the 2012 Rio 5-door just starting to arrive at Kia dealerships across Europe, Kia is celebrating the official public premiere of the all-new 2012 Rio 3-door. The long-anticipated Rio 3-door is Kia’s first-ever entry into the crowded three-door B-segment, which is currently dominated by competitors such as VW Polo and Ford Fiesta.
Designed primarily with European consumers in mind, the 2012 Rio 3-door boasts striking exterior design, comfortable interior with soft-at-touch dashboard materials and a range of fuel-efficient engines. The new Rio 3-door is available with the same engine line-up as its 5-door sibling.
This means the new model offers customers a choice of four highly efficient three-cylinder and four-cylinder engines, including the all-new 1.1L CRDI diesel engine with fuel consumption as low as 3.2 L/100 km (88.2 mpg) and industry-leading CO2 rating of just 85 grams per kilometer! Other engine options available are the 90-horsepower 1.4L CRDI diesel engine and two gasoline engines with 85 and 109 horsepower, respectively.
Kia Rio 3-door has the same key dimensions as the 5-door model: length 4.045 mm, width 1.720 mm, height 1.455 mm and wheelbase 2.570 mm). It is available with a wide selection of 10 exterior body colors including White, Black, Bright Silver, Signal Red, Deep Blue, Wendy Brown, Graphite, Fresh Beige, Electronic Blue and Caramel Yellow.

No information about US sales at this point. But I’m affraid that Kia will offer the 3-door Rio exclusively in Europe, Russia and Korea. Same as with the 3-door Kia Picanto!

Not bad. The 5 door is the ruler of all three Rios though.

Since Canada is a nation of hatchbacks, I’m not surprised that my nearest Kia dealer says that the Rio will not even come here in a sedan, let alone a 2 door, just a 5 door. I’m not saying dealers know everything, but I would be surprised if he’s right.

The word is the 3 door is coming to Canada, although at a bit later date than the 5 door which should begin arriving shortly. The last new car I purchased was a 1991 Acura Integra hatchback and if the 3 door lives up to even half the hype, this will be my next new car.

Hopefully 3 door will come. I am sick of those small 4 door sedans.
To me, anything that has more than 3 doors is a family car.
If three door hatch shows up, I will definitely check it out.
