Kia Naimo KND-6 electric concept car makes its official worldwide premiere at the 2011 Seoul Auto Show.

The Naimo concept vehicle, codenamed KND-6, is a small crossover utility vehicle which was designed by Kia’s international design team working at the automaker’s R&D headquarters in Seoul. The zero-emission concept vehicle sports an eye-catching exterior layout with simple lines and solid, muscular stance.

Highlights of the Naimo’s attractive exterior design include a wrap-around windscreen, asymmetric sunroof, front and rear dot-style LED head- and positioning-lamps, three-way opening rear hatch and reverse-opening rear doors that maximise easy access to the cabin. Inside, the Naimo features a hand-crafted Korean oak, used to trim the interior door panels and the entire interior floor. The vehicle also sports modern features such as a transparent organic light emitting diode display instrument panel.

Inspired by the Kia Pop concept, which was exhibited at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, the Naimo electric car measures 3.890 mm in length, which means it is slightly smaller than the Soul crossover and about the same size as the Kia Rio 2012. The zero-emission concept car sits on a platform with generous wheelbase of 2.647mm.

Kia Naimo, named literally for the Korean word “ne-mo” which means “square shape”, is powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor producing 109 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. A twin-pack 27 kWh Lithium Ion Polymer battery, located under the boot floor, gives the vehicle a driving range of 200 km (124 miles) on a single charge. According to Kia, the vehicle can be recharged to 80 percent of its capacity in no more than 25 minutes (under a quick recharging cycle), while a normal cycle, a full charge can be obtained in 5 and a half hours.

Ok. If I were Toyota, GM, Honda, Ford or VW, I really stop pretending that the Koreans are nothing to worry about. This and the Hyundai HND-6?

The face of Kia is changing. It’s something about this style. Ok this is what I have so far. The backend is off the Kee concept and the Pop is in there just like Himi said. But, there is an all new design direction. Think about it. Does the KV7 look like the Kue like the Sportage or Sorento? Does the Naimo look like the KUE like the other design directions. It seems that Kia now wants to envolve their design into a totally different design. think about it. the Kue was the first design direction and now something else a design direction. I just got to figure it out. And I’m going to or my name ain’t jtz.

jtz-yer name is jtz, man! And I like the Naimo a lot. If I were to trade in the ’08 Lancer GTS, which has 69,014 miles on it now and is running like a champ, in a few years that is, there would be plenty of charge on one charge to drive from Kellogg, ID, where we live, to Coeur d’ Alene, ID, where we go to shop and play. The kicker is that there’d still be charge to get back to Kellogg again. Winning! I’m gonna follow Naimo’s development closely like Gary Payton guarding Michael Jordan in the 1996 NBA Finals between the Seattle Supersonics and the Chicago Bulls.

I figured it out!!!! What do you guys see between the Naimo, KV7 Concept, Pop concept and K9 on spy shots? What simularties can you make out between the three? I’ll give you a hint. This design cue the three models share have nothing to do with the box like apperance since the K9 and Pop aren’t box like. Another hint. The K9 isn’t unveiled yet so that means it must be something that we are only allowed to see. And my last hint. Remember the sketch of the Kee concept. It unveiled the face. Now this face was the begining of Kia’s signature face. However, since the signature grille continues to evolve, what’s on the Kee isn’t on the Naimo, KV7, Pop and K9. But then again it is and yet it isn’t since it has evolved. You should easily find it. I know I did. Plus I got to assume that the RWD Kia coupe concept will also have this design cue. If and when they release a sketch of what we plan to see at Frankfurt. I bet it would either be A: a side profile. B: the face or C: the back end? How would I assume you ask? Will Why is it that Kia didn’t relase a sketch the same time Hyundai released what it plans on showing at Frankfurt. That’s because HKAG isn’t ready to relase any images yet. And if they do, don’t expect the entire concept to be relased neither. Like the Soul, KUE, KEE and Ray sketches. But remember what do you guys see between the KV7, Naimo, Pop and K9?

The face of Kia is evolving really fast. Faster than BMW even. And Toyota’s new signature grille is lame and boring. All the 2012 Camry is is a bigger Corolla. Toyota failed in their face. Infact they’re aren’t even sure what they want the face of Toyota to look like. For example, 2011 Highlander and 2012 Taurus hint headlights. Or even 2008 Edge and Toyota Venza hint headlights. And lastly, VW Iroc, Lancer and Tundra hint face. Confusing ain’t it?

Something else strange. The Sante Fe and Careens are in the same cycle. Think about it. When the 2nd generation Carnes arrived for the 2002 model year we saw spy shots about a year eariler. Same for the Sante Fe. Also when the Carens got redesigned for the 3rd time for the 07′ model we saw spy shots in 2006. Same fro the Sante Fe. However, we see the 3rd generation Sante Fe on spy shots but no 3rd generation Carens spy shots. Why? There could be several reasons for this. 1. A Korean worker could have given the spy shooter a black eye because the the person was trying to take a picture. 2. Because of Kia’s new grounbreaking design, the process could take longer for it to be finalized. and 3. The mpv just got lucky and escaped spy shots. You know what I expect of the next Carens. I expect it to take some cues (not 100%) off the KV7 concept. Like the box like appearnce found on the Tam and Naimo.
