Kia Motors announces US-market sales numbers for the month of September 2010. 2011 Sorento sales hit an all-time high of 10.112 units.

Earlier this week, Kia Motors America issued its September 2010 sales report, which reveals the fast-growing automaker has hit an all-time quarterly sales record in the US-market. Kia’s September sales have grown up 39 percent compared to a year go to 30.071 units.

August 2010 monthly sales record is Kia’s second in the past three months and sixth overall in 2010. Record sales during the last couple of months have also helped the brand achieve its best quarterly sales of 97.955 units!

September sales were driven mainly by new Kia cars, such as the 2011 Soul crossover, Forte sedan and Forte Koup, and new Kia Sorento and Sportage crossover vehicles. The Sportage 2011 model year has just recently hit the US Kia dealerships and already received a great response from consumers. Kia sold 2.497 units of new Sportge last month and 5.221 units since its launch about two months ago.

The vehicle who lead Kia’s August 2010 sales was the popular Sorento crossover, which has posted record-high sales last month. For the first time since its introduction, the 2011 Sorento sales eclipsed the 10.000 units sales mark. With 78.174 units sold so far this year, the new Sorento remains the best-selling vehicle in the Kia’s US-market line-up.

Other high-performing (in terms of sales) Kia vehicles include the funky Soul crossover and Forte compact car, which posted sales of 5.346 and 5.116 units, respectively. According to Kia, sales of the above-mentioned Kia vehicles accounts for more than 76 percent of sales in September.

With  the new Optima mid-size sedan and Forte 5-door hatchback just around the corner, we are expecting to see the Kia sales rising further. The Forte hatchback is scheduled to hit the dealers by the end of the month, while the long-awaited Optima 2011 is scheduled to go on sale in November this year.

Sorento sales are very high. Americans still love their SUV’s. Coming soon: steep ramp-up in Sportage sales as availability improves.

Hope Kia will be able to build enough new Sportage crossovers. If not, sales will stay at the same levels as with Hyundai Tucson, which can not break 4,000 units per month. This is probably due to heavy demand in other international markets.

The Sorento outsold the traverse, Rouge and that ugly Pilot last month making it number 7. Unlike the Highlander, which ain’t seen top ten list in a while. Lets see if that 2011 Highlander is really going to help? Does Toyota really think the Highlander’s new headlights is going to outsell the Sorento? Does toyota think their Highlander can tackle the Sorento? Also, I see Nissan wants in on the Pop and Smart concept as well. So Nissan thinks making their ugly green sedan bigger than the rest is really going to outsell the Pop? Welll see becuase the Sorento and Soul is tacklling down that Cube and rouge. And the already selling Sportage is ready to tackle down that Juke as well. Brign ti on NISSAN!!! Oh yeah and don’t let the Sentra’s sells slip because the Forte is RIGHT behind that Sentra in sales. And the next Rio is ready for that Versa too. Nissan thinks taking the Rio 5′s tailghts is going to help? Please. Also, Schyrer wants in for the Kee to tackle that Z. Lets see what happens in 2013.

Hyundai and Kia need at least one more factory in the United States, each. The Korean factories are getting strained really fast, and if Kia wants continued growth, there is no way they can manufacture to keep up with demand. If that new Optima will sell as well as the Sonata, the Hwasung factory is going to very quickly reach full capacity – which they are already at. Also, Kia would not need to ferry so many cars to the US. Factories are expensive, but in the long run HKAG would be making a very smart financial decision. Also, Americans like buying things that are made here. Personally I think the Koreans have better work ethic, but, whatever.

When the OPtima comes out, Expect HUGE numbers from Kia. I expect Kia to sell at least 15K Optima’s per month. Boosting sales by a whopping 50% per month from 30K. That will be serious Momentum and money for Hyundai KAG to further invest in newer technologies. That Guy Schreyer will sell lots of Optima in 2011 look out.

You know what’s funny? Sorento broke the 10,000 unit mark the same month it got recalled. I wonder just how strong will the Sorento last now that the meaner looking Sportage is on sale? Well it reach 8000 units? Kia needs at least another model to not only reach 8000 units or more a month but to stay around that many units too. Sure Soul and Forte are good sellers but Kia could use another good seller like the Optima or the Sportage. Maybe they should even get rid of the Sante Fe and build the Sportage in West Point instead. After all, the sign reads “Kia” not ” Hyundai”. I just hope the workers their aren’t as motivated to assmble the Sante Fe like they are doing the Sorento.

Yes, the Optima could potentially outsell the Sonata. It already does so in Korea. Hopefully Kia can keep up with demand. I VERY MUCH doubt that Kia will have any leftover inventory. Our dealership has seen 5 Sportages and all are sold. We can’t seem to get any more Sportages. They don’t have enough.

Will in order for the Optima to outsell the Sonta, it has to first outsell the Altima. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

From my understanding the Kia factory in the United States will build a 3rd vehicle late next year. Plus they have enormous amount of room on their site if they wanted to build another plant. Their is rumor they will add a third shift next year.

Kia has to change it some. At the rate its sales are, they don’t want it to get stale.

How about a heated steering wheel, memory seats, power passenger seat, cooled drivers seat, power folding mirrors. Those are some options as you already know Greg, that will boost their sales. Can’t wait for those changes to show up.

To desert fox: When did you see the Cadenza? What color was it? Did you sit inside it? If so what did you think? Was it fully loaded? Was this a I4 or V6? Was it at a dealership? Was this in Europe or America that you saw the Cadenza. Speaking of Cadenza, I saw the next Azera but I think the one year old Cadenza looks so much better. I just can’t get passed the Ford Escourt’s tailights.
