Stunning Kia POP concept car set to make its official premiere at the forthcoming 2010 Paris Auto Show!

Kia Motors Corporation today released a set of images previewing the all-new POP concept car, which is scheduled to make its official debut at the upcoming Paris Auto Show.

With the new POP concept car, Kia continues its tradition of unveiling an eye-catching and environmental friendly concept vehicles at motor shows, which are all primarily used to showcase the automaker’s design and development capabilities.

According to Kia, the all-new POP concept car is a zero-emission electric vehicle, which features electric motor and next-generation lithium polymer battery.

As evident from the released pictures, the POP concept car offers seating for three, with two seats placed at front and additional one at rear. With only 3 meters in length, the POP concept vehicle is smaller than Kia Picanto, which is currently the smallest vehicle in the automaker’s model line-up. Its about the same size as Toyota iQ, which is already on sale in Europe.

The latest Kia concept is inspired by Kia Ray electric concept car, which has been unveiled earlier this year at New York Auto Show. It features LED lightning and large panoramic roof that reveals vehicle’s purple colored interior and chromed dashboard.

Kia announced it will take the wraps of its latest Pop concept car at the 2010 Paris Auto Show on September 30.  That’s when we expect to see more official shots and hear more details about the vehicle’s powertrain technologies and capabilities. Stay tuned!

That’s what I’m talking about. Make your own f***ing Smart rival instead of copying it unlike the Toyota IQ and its clone the Scion “Whatever”. As for the name, its corny but as long as it doesn’t look like a Pepsi, I’m good with that. I see it all new design lanuguage here. Not much from the KUE, KEE, KND-4 or the KND-5. I do see a tiny bit of the Ray but all and all its an all new design cue from Kia. I wonder, if the next generation Rio is going to be taking some cues from this. This is some suprise some suprise indeed. Oh yeah I see Kia Ray related in a little of this…. and yet it has its own little design. The headlights is turning me for loops.. It looks nothing like the Sportage, Sorento, Forte, K7, or the K5′s. I wonder just wonder where the purple came from? The Kue’s interior was red. The Knd-4′S ITNERIOR was brown or green just like the Kee’s. I wonder if the interior ligthing will be red? What color do you guys think the interior lighting will be? I say red. This looks way better than that Toyota/Scion IQ. I bet it can take that IQ and that ugly Smart too.

A new thought just came to mind. This thing is more Rayish than I realized. When viewing it from the top, you should see that U or N look back appearnce just like the Ray’s. The Kia Sidewinder also had that appearance only thing is the tailights made the U like appearance. This here has my brain farting becuase of an all new design langauge. Hey why do you think they should us this much of the car? This even looks better than that ugly MAZDA2. I wonder what the mpg is? I wonder if they already made speeches of what they are going to say for the 2010 Auto show. Who do you guys think designed this Schereyer or Tom Kearns. I have to tell you that the silver must be Tom Kearns favorite color. Think about it: Why else was the 2005 Mesa and 2006 Soul in Silver? Speaking of the Soul, did you guys notice that the back tires are pulled out to the corner just like the Soul’s is?

You know what? I take back what I said eariler, it does have a tiny bit of Kia’s new design concept language. There is something that this has in common with with the other Kia concepts starting with the Kue. That coupe like interior. I wonder what the engine looks like? I don’t like it but for the type of car and rival up agaisnt the Smart and that IQ, it looks better. Which do you guys think look the best the Smart, IQ or this Pop? So this must be like the Ray’s little bro? Kinda like the Soul was the Mesa’s little bro?

I can’t beleive how blind I am. You see the headligths and the outlines of the headligths? That came from the Kee’s. When you look at the face of the Kee with the LED’s lit up, the Pop concept has that same appearance. So this Kia also has the face of the other Kias….. and yet it has its own little design character. Unlike the Mazda, 2, and 3.

    August 18th, 2010 at 7:01 pm

That face on the Kee is also found on the K7′s headlights as well. Thats same shape. Think about it. the K7 has LED’s that light up just like the Kee’s. The K7′s lights were not created to look like that Lexus ES (its headlights came from the Pontiac Grand Prix’s or Chevy Implala’s) it was designed to look simular to the Kee and yet have its own little character. Unlike the Ford Tarus’s face that looks like the 1999 Nissan Altima’s and less like the Explorer, Fusion, Edge and that ugly Flex.

I always believed the Picanto should not be a 5 door. If Kia is serious about this design and want to use it in a production vehicle, I say the next gen Picanto should take lots of design features from this concept.

I truly believe some design ideas found on the Kia Pop concept will make it in production someday soon. We might see them on new Picanto or Rio.

I’m eagerly awaiting the day that they reveal the range of this vehicle. Hope they won’t disappoint.

Wow, 4 lugnuts for this segment is a lot. The Smart only has three! IDK why, but I always notice how many lugnuts a car has. I hate when cars have only four lugnuts. That’s one thing Kia did right for the Forte – 5 lugnuts.

And Greg, fortunately too, my 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS has 5 lugnuts!

Guess what? I read on edmunds that the next Picanto is getting a 3 cylinder turbocharge all electric engine. Could it be, that the Pop is carrying the next generation Picanto’s new engine? Personally, I don’t like the concept but for what the category it supposed to be (Smart and IQ class) its very nice. I think they don’t need this to go into production just bring out the Picanto with the 3 cyclinder turbocharge engine. Heck it may be old news but it’s new to me.

They have something big with the next Rio. I expect not only to be mouth watering but something amazingly suprising about the engine. Something big something new, something…. different. They have something up their sleeves I tell you. They are keeping this thing as top secret as possible (thanks a LOT Chery from trying to clone the HM and Sorento).

  13. Greg Says:

    August 20th, 2010 at 6:20 pm

What do you mean 3 cylinder turbocharge all electric engine? Is it diesel only, partially electric, or full electric?

  14. BJD Says:

    August 20th, 2010 at 9:37 pm

what he meant to say was, Picanto will have a 3 cyl turbo AND and optional all-electric version in the next model year (europe only i guess)

  15. jtz Says:

    August 20th, 2010 at 10:26 pm

Yes sir. I wonder just wonder what plans they have for the next Rio?

That rear is probably going on the next Rio and Picanto.

I dont know what it could really be, but as far as I can tell, thats some type of Heads Up Display (HUD) on the dash which you can see in the third pic that shows the front of the car (you know the type in the corvette where the speed is projected on the windscreen).
Also notice from the top view pic, there isnt much of a gauge cluster behind the steering wheel, but instead i see some sort of “second level” display, centered at the back of the dashboard (at the wind screen edge).

  18. jtz Says:

    August 23rd, 2010 at 3:44 pm

Is it important for Kia to really make a Smart rival? I mean can’t they just use the same technologies in the Pop and just put it into a next Rio which is a whole lot bigger?

  19. BJD Says:

    August 23rd, 2010 at 9:12 pm

car’s that are smaller than fiesta are what’s needed for brands operating in Europe. Audi’s come up with A1 and S1, Aston Martin with cygnet, toyota iQ, nissan micra and BMW’s planned 1-series shows that there is market for these cars over there. So the POP, or whatever the production version will be called is pretty important to Kia. I think they have other things in mind for Rio (Maybe another concept?)

  20. jtz Says:

    August 23rd, 2010 at 10:21 pm

In Europe, people should not only wonder about the next Rio, but the Cee’d, and Carens too. Heck they could arrive on spy shots around the same time. After all, didn’t the Rio and cee’d receive facelifts around the same time?

  21. jtz Says:

    August 23rd, 2010 at 10:27 pm

Kia is up to something I tell you. Hyundai thinks they will regain sales in S. Korea when the Accent and Elantra arrive. That may be true but how long will that happen once the Picanto, Careens and next Rio arrive in S. Korea. Then what is hyundai going to do? I really want to see the what the next Carens will look like. If it looks groundbreaking, they should reconsider it coming to the States. Sure it may conflict with the Sportage but so what.

  22. Greg Says:

    August 24th, 2010 at 1:47 am

Ah, another problem with Kia’s stupid Alpha numeric system. What do they call this car? The Kia K0.5? K1 would be Picanto. They need to leave well enough alone with the names. Since when is there going to be a “new Carens”?? All they are going to do is sell the came Carens with nothing but a grille change until 2015.

  23. BJD Says:

    August 24th, 2010 at 9:05 am

But this really could be what the next picanto (or picanto replacement) turns into – i.e. a 3 door. Making picanto a 5 door was pointless in the first place. Cars of this size, should primarily be 3 door. So it can be the K1 (That’s if they sell it in S. Korea. This sort of car only has a market in Europe and maybe some South Asian countries.)

  24. jtz Says:

    August 24th, 2010 at 3:39 pm

What no Careens redesign? Screw it sell the Forte hatch over in Europe, after all, all it is is the Careens just check out the side profile.

I just saw the new Buick GL8 Minivan. Just another big, stupid, dumb slow van to take 30 seconds to get to the speed limit and 3 hours to make a right turn. Minivans are the stupidest vehicles in mankind creation. Why buy an ugly ,big, stupid, dumb slow accelerating van when you can buy a CUV?

  26. Greg Says:

Kia will make an Optima 5, which is what the Rondo is, anyway

  27. jtz Says:

    August 24th, 2010 at 6:35 pm

Yeah, I’m more interested in the Optima coupe though. I’m sure the Optima will look wayyy better than that Accord coupe that got its back lights from the Audi A6′s THAT’S EASY TO DO. Click and paste. Speaking of Honda’s clicking and pasting, the Accords backend is a click and paste from the Altima’s back just like the Pilot is a click and paste from the Scion XB. I mean the Accord has the same truck design and the headlights are THIS CLOSE TO the actual Altima. I’m glad the Optima doesn’t look like that!!!

Is the K7 still coming to the states? I want to know because although it is more modern it is still one heck of a sedan. Its just sad that the powerful K7 is forgotten because of the Sportage and Optima. The K7 may not be noticed after seeing the Sportage and K5 but it is the only Kia so far with the best interior compared to the other Kias. I want to read reviews about the K7′s driving and the K5. I also want to see the K7 take on the Taurus and the LaCross. The K7 is a nice ride and if the Sportage n’ K5 take over in sales, then I’ll wait for the K7 because it’ll be rare. It looks better in blue or black. Also the K5 and k7 have the same signature C pillars…. Yet their pillars have its own character and yet it doesn’t.

I just saw the 2011 Highlander. Yeah it will need a facelift because it ain’t got nothing on the Sorento just like their Rav-4 is going to be taken off the top 10 best selling CUVs once the Sportage is fully adapted into the Kia line up. Watch my word, some CUV is going to be carried out of the top best selling CUV list. Either the Toyota, Chevy, Nissa. The only CUV that ain’t going no where on the list any time soon is that CR-V. Oh yeah, Toyota had another re-call. How many recalls is that 13 or 14?

Guess what? VW messed up the 2012 CC. They messed it up bad. After the 11′ Optima, I thought it was the best looking car….. not anymore!!! The Optima wins heands down. They are supposed to have changed the rear as well, so if you trying to get a CC, hurry up before the new one arrives.

I’m really liking my grandma’s new 09 Amanti. Even if the styling on the outside is bad. The inside is quiet, and the ride is like a cloud. Too bad its not a better looking vehicle. Kia had a real winner with the Amanti. Hopefully the Cadenza has a ride like the Amanti.

Very nice car and a beautiful original design, we have an Toyota IQ a very different car also some Japan hated car enthusiast said about the IQ it is a copie of the Smart but we can tell after having a Smart it is a big lie.

These people are liars and are sheaps follow other footsteps they walk after others and they do not have any charisma or character.

Please manufacture this very beauty car, and we will bought it, we like modern small cars,
