Kia Motors sold 143.267 vehicles in February 2010. All major sales regions post double-digit year-on-year sales increase.

In February, Kia saw its sales rise by 39.5 percent to 143.267 units, while cumulative sales from the first two months of 2010 increased by 50.6 percent to 293.659 units.

Kia’s sales increase in February was a result of the company’s double- digit year-on-year sales growth in all major sales regions. China experienced the highest gain 128.6 percent among all markets (25.435 units sold).

Kia managed to increase its sales by 52.7 percent in General markets (32.578 units) and 34.4 percent in Europe (24.992 units sold). Sales have also increased by 11.4 percent in North American market (27.053 units), as well as in its home Korean market, where the automaker sold 33.209 (+ 21.6%) new vehicles.

The C-segment Cerato, known also as Forte in the US market, remains the best-selling vehicle in Kia’s lineup. With 28.191 units sold the Cerato leads B-segment Rio and Sportage SUV in second and third spot with 14.307 and 13.862 units sold, respectively.

Kia Picanto and cee’d are no longer members of the top five best-selling Kia models. They were replaced by the all-new Sorento and Soul crossovers. Sorentos are selling like hot cakes, particularly in the US market where the model has recorded its highest monthly sales for the second straight month. Kia sold 11.981 units of new Sorento and 8.934 Souls in overseas markets.

According to Hyoung-Keun Lee, President of Kia Motors Corporation, the company is extremely pleased with the double-digit sales growth achieved in all major sales regions last month. In addition, Kia is also happy to see that demand for its all-new Sorento crossover exceeded initial sales expectations.

The only Kia engines that are in vehicles and still use a rubber timing belt are the 1.6L Alpha, the 2.0L Beta, and the 2.7L Mu

    I think Venga’s been recalled.
    .
Euro NCAP discovered a cut in the webbing of the seat-belt on the driver’s side following the frontal impact crash test. Euro NCAP inspectors concluded that the seatbelt was damaged by interaction with the seat runners when it was under load from the dummy. Kia has produced a polypropylene sleeve to be added to the seat belt as an effective countermeasure to the problem. The car manufacturer has delayed deliveries of all new cars until the modification is fitted and is requesting those already with the vehicle, to return the car to dealers to have the protective sleeve fitted to the seat belt.

In total 2100 cars will be affected by this modification, of which 1100 have been delivered to customers and 1000 are dealer demonstrator vehicles.
    .
And after that was fixed and tested, Venga only managed to score 4 stars at euro ncap.

    @BJD

    No. No. You are wrong.
Euro NCAP gave 4 stars to previous unrecalled model.

Euro NCAP still not retest recalled model.

    ———————
The Kia Venga also achieved a four star rating, although not without problems. During the frontal test the driver seat belt was partially cut by the lower seat rail, a serious flaw that potentially can undermine proper restraint of both frontal occupants. Kia swiftly introduced a solution and is currently taking market action to respond to Euro NCAP’s findings.

    -

Guess what? The 2011 Kia Optima is totally revealed. It looks great!!! It reminds me of a cross between the Lexus IS and Jaguar XR. And I also see the Kia Kee’s truck design as well. The C pillar is nice too. The headlights look like the Forte, Sorento, Kue, Kee, Sportage and yet it doesn’t just like the other Kias. It looks wayyyy better than that every .05 of second seeing everyday Camry and Accord on the road.

It also looks better than that Subaru Legacy that looks like the Acocord from the side. And it looks better than that wanna be 09′ Lacross called the 2010 Infini M sedan. It also looks better than that ugly Avalon that got it’s D pillar from the VW Phaeton. What an ugly looking sedan though the Saturn Aura’s headlights came from that ugly Avalon. It also looks better than that Chevy Malibu that got its headlights from the Mercedes Benz C class. It looks better than that Nissan Altima. Poor Nissan I feel sorry for them since three models copied the Altima’s greenhouse, the Legacy, Accord and Pontiac G8 they all share the same 2005 Nissan Altima’s C pillar.

It looks better than that Accord. that got its tailights from the Mazda CX-7. It looks better than that Camry with it’s tailights comeing from the Acura TL’s. It looks better than that UGLy Rollsroyce wanna be every .05 of a second seeing Chreysler 300 C with the tailghts coming from a Caddy and having the same C pillar of the Caddy CTX, Camry, G6, and 06 Sonata’s.

When the entire line up gets the new face, I hope on the back of the brochure that they rearrange how they have the set up. I don’t like that circle set up at the back. They need to somehow display every Kia showing their new design. I can’t wait to get info and see the interior. I really hope it is as nice as the Cadenza’s. At first I thought the Cadena’s interior was strange looking but when you really look at it, everyone else’s dash’s meet the autotranny or stick. Like the Buick LaCross and the Cruze, The TL, Lexus models even the new Soanta. All of them have that same interior set up. But so far Kias haven’t done that. They still wouldn’t win an award for interior designs though. Hyundai makes better interior designs so I dont’ expect the interior of this to look better than the Sonatas. After all, the Sportage’s interior is nothing like the Tucson. The only Kia with a better interior than a Hyundai is the Sorento and that beats the Sante Fe’s.

Wow, it even has panaramic sunroof!!! I want to see this thing go neck to neck with the Mazda 6 and Nissan Altima in a race. I want to really know if this car has what it takes to REALLY compete with aggressive rivals. Some are saying it looks like the Taurus but how could it look like that if the Ford looks like the 1999 Nissan Altima’s face and the 09′ Optima came out before the Tarus? It looks more like the Kia face than anything else. Like how could it look like the Fusion when the Kia kee came out before that Ford Fusion got it’s facelift? Some says it looks like an Accord but last I checked the KND-4 cameout before Honda decided to give the new Accord Mazda CX-7′s tailights.

2011 Kia Sorento SX. The trim adds extra equipment, visual dress-up (can’t wait to see it!), and a sharper suspension compared to the LX and EX models. It’s equipped exclusively with the Sorento’s 3.5-liter V-6 engine and six-speed automatic transmission.

The SX dons new front and rear fascias, LED taillights, a chrome exhaust tip, and special silver-painted 18-inch wheels. On top are chrome roof rails; underneath, stainless-steel skid plates. Interior changes include stainless-steel pedal covers, a metallic gauge cluster surround, and extra accent lighting.

Additional standard equipment includes heated leather front seats, an auto-dimming mirror, a 10-speaker Infinity Audio surround-sound system, and a voice-activated navigation system with a backup camera. Most of these add-ons are optional on the LX and EX trims, but standard with the SX level.

The Sorento SX rides half an inch lower than other models and employs “Dual Flow Damper” shock absorbers. Kia says this gives the Sorento a sportier stance and better handling, all without compromising ride quality.

Wow, I can’t wait to see that bad boy Sorento with LED tailights. What about LED headlights though? It really will need LED headlights since the K7, K5, Sportage has it which came from the Kia KEE concept. the first Kia to have LEDs. I’m glad they have LEDs like Audi. So Greg you got any new info on that new Van to replace the Sedona? I want to know about that too. I wonder if that Van has been on spy shots yet? What do you think. A big van like that seems hard to escape spy shots. Maybe it’s in the wind tunnel. Or is still in the freezing stage. Maybe its doing a shower test. What if the van is doing the light test or brake test or even the safety test? I hope it looks better than Hondas nice looking Odessey (I hate to admint it but it is very nice). It looks better than Toyotas new version. I still think vans are big, stupid, dumb and slow. Why buy a stupid slow van when you can just get a CUV? If I ever pay $40,000 for a big stupid slow van, just shoot me hear? Vans are the stupidest vehicels mankind ever created. They can have class leading horsepower and I still have to get in the next lane becuase they are just stupid and slow.
