New Kia Sportage makes its official debut ahead of Geneva Auto Show.
Kia today revealed its long-anticipated next-generation Sportage crossover. The company released a series of images previewing the production-ready Sportage crossover fully undisguised.
As evident from the pictures, the all-new Kia Sportage crossover marks a dramatic shift in design direction for the brand’s popular compact SUV. Like all new Kia vehicles so far, the new Sportage received a distinctive family face with “Schreyer” grille and Sorento-inspired daytime running lights. The combination of high beltline and narrow glasshouse makes it look fantastic, while its plastic body cladding boasts an off-roading appearance.
The new model looks eye-pleasing, but Kia claims that Sportage also offers vastly improved ride quality thanks to a brand-new platform with longer wheelbase. In terms of size, the model is longer, lower and wider than its predecessor and offers more passenger room. The boot space has also increased significantly, according to Kia.
The hot-looking 2011 Sportage crossover is set to hit the Kia dealerships within a few months with a wide range of highly competitive gasoline and diesel engines. Since the model shares its underpinnings with Hyundai’s Tucson crossover, it is expected that both crossovers will share their engines, as well as transmissions.
Kia has yet to release more details, but you can expect to see a 2.0L and 2.4L four-cylinder gasoline engines fitted under the hood of North American Sportage. In Europe, Kia Sportage is expected to get a 1.6L GDI gasoline four-cylinder and a choice of 1.7L and 2.0L four-cylinder diesel engines.
As speculated before, Kia has now confirmed that the world-wide premiere of its brand-new Sportage crossover will take place at the forth-coming Geneva International Auto Show, which opens its doors on March 2nd. If you plan to visit the event, make sure not to miss the Kia stand in the hall 6!

SWEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I love that gray one at the bottom corner of the screen with the wheels. It looks bad ass!!!
February 3rd, 2010 at 5:22 pm
HELL! I love it! this is the best design out of Kia since the Soul! and Thank goodness it doesnt look too feminine like the new tucson. Can’t wait for the interior now! Peter’s done a spectacular job with his first full project!
February 3rd, 2010 at 5:29 pm
I agree, the new Sportage looks really HOT.
February 3rd, 2010 at 6:02 pm
i usually dont like rear turn signals to be on the bumper but I think it fits here and since not many designs have it this way, it looks unique.
.
so it seems like the orange one will be for S. Korea since it has parking sensors in front; different fog lights; some thing that seems to be a parking camera embedded in the front wheel arch; different lower rear bumper and different front bumper.
.
ALso, I’ve noticed the fuel filler is on the left side as opposed to what it seemed in the leaked pix.

YESSSS!!! YESSSS!! P E R F E C T !!! BEST KIA DESIGN NEXT TO THE K7!!! I just told my mum about how the new images have been released *hehe* I will definately be encouraging her to buy this stunner when it hits the roads! =D
February 3rd, 2010 at 7:18 pm
those aren’t parking cameras, those are headlamp washers. Anyway, I love it. Kia is getting closer to having an all world class line-up.
February 3rd, 2010 at 11:23 pm
I don’t know what to say. This is really NICE no better than nice it is it is oh forget it. Nice design.
February 3rd, 2010 at 11:26 pm
uuuuuu nice one! Mybe some day ill have it.
February 3rd, 2010 at 11:29 pm
This is quite impressive. It appears to be the best looking production Kia ever.. Compared to many others in US market place, RAV4, CRV.. etc, this thing looks like a champ! Great Job Massimo!!

Um no the silver and orange both have the same fog lights which came from the Forte LPI concept. The only differance is the Sportage in orange’s fog lights are lit.
February 4th, 2010 at 1:55 am
Oh you talking about the 3 silver photos at the bottom not the top. Yeah they are diffrent.. I guess that means S. Korea will hog all the luxury.
February 4th, 2010 at 1:58 am
Whoa…this thing is hotter than Phoenix, AZ, in July! I love the orange one. Great looking body design, one of Kia’s best ever, if not their best IMO. Very, very cool new SUV.

One week y’all just one week until we see the Kia Ray Concept.
February 4th, 2010 at 2:14 am
Which cuv do you guys think looks better the new Sportage or that Acura RDX?
February 4th, 2010 at 2:38 am
Hi everyone,
Glad to read such great feedback… we’re pretty excited about this all-new model, too!
BJD — You said “so it seems like the orange one will be for S. Korea…”
Actually, the orange pics are European specs… our friends at Kia Motors Europe took those great pics!

Pamela, will it be on dealer lots like a few days after Chicago? Just put it ou now, take a loss on the remaining Sorrentos, just hurry. 0.1% sales gain in America was embarassing.
February 4th, 2010 at 7:13 am
I mean Sportgaes.
February 4th, 2010 at 3:58 pm
I think this THE best looking CUV currently. I mean it! there’s nothing that looks better than it.
and Greg, i meant the small thing in the BLACK plastic around the [front] wheel arch. there seems to be a tiny indentation. It could be a side sensor if not a camera.
February 4th, 2010 at 9:01 pm
Yes BJD on the orange one you can see these dents go right across the front. The only CUV that comes close to looking this good is the Ford Kuga. The Hyundai ix35 (new Tuscon) would be a good competitor but it seemed to have got bashed in the face while going from concept to production car LOL
February 4th, 2010 at 10:56 pm
I can’t think of a CUV that looks better than this neither BJD. The only really good CUVs I really liked was the 2004 Infinti FX, Acura RDX but this beats both of them.
February 4th, 2010 at 10:58 pm
I can’t think of a CUV that looks better than this neither BJD. The only really good CUVs I really liked was the 2004 Infinti FX, Acura RDX but this beats both of them. And another thing too, with this not being so big, this has plenty of growing room for the next generation Sportages to come. Unlike the Rav 4.
February 5th, 2010 at 12:00 pm
I prefer this to have the Soul’s steering wheel than K7’s and Sorento’s.
February 5th, 2010 at 6:21 pm
I think its too big for that steering wheel.
February 6th, 2010 at 7:29 pm
I’m not really wild about it. Actually apart from it’s snout it’s a very dull and common design. To much Compass I even see some old Astra in it (which is king of dullness). I hope it drives better than it looks, and has decent mileage and emision!
I know the current Sportage looks outdated inside and out. But of the hundreds of cars I’ve ever driven it is probably still in the top 20 of cars I enjoyed a lot…
February 7th, 2010 at 5:10 am
The 2011 Kia Sportage is a DULL AND BORING DESIGN? This is the neatest and tautest SUV design ever designed, car nut-heads. I kid you not. It is good enough to make me stray from Mitsubishi and enter the Kia Motors of South Korea fold once again. Blaring some vintage Foghat, Guess Who, new and old Tragically Hip and some new and old Drive-By Truckers as well. Wow!! This pup is an absolute knockout. Margarita’s for all of you and loud, live music and the 2011 Kia Sportage. Breathtaking beauty in design. Schreyer is good. Real good.
February 8th, 2010 at 5:24 am
The Sportage is beautiful. It gets 60 billion stars out of 5.
February 8th, 2010 at 6:40 am
This isn’t dull now the current sportage is. You know what I like is this does not look like the Sorento. It has the Sorento’s design DNA but anyone can tell them apart. But can anyone tell the difference between the new outlander, lancer and RVR when viewing them from the audi like face? I can’t I have to look at the sides to see the difference unlike KIA’s models. This Sportage looks like the Forte yet it has its own unique design unlike Mazdas. Even the The K7, Optima and Ray look alike and yet they don’t. I can’t stand that click and paste crap that is lazy designing and easy to do. The next Lexus GX looks more dull and really is a bigger Rav-4.
February 10th, 2010 at 4:30 am
Now hopefully it will have the saddle leather like the new Tucson and push button start that the Tucson was supposed to have. The ix35 in Korea and Europe has the push button start. But not here in the USA, way to dumb it down Hyundai.
February 10th, 2010 at 5:33 am
El Jefe, its probably not up to the reliability standards Americans require.
-
Do you know how bad the press would be if we got a Million vehicle recall over push button start? They are not just doubting Japanese technology, but they are now doubting Asian technology, and Koreans have especaed this, but if we dont do things right, we can get sucked in the drama.
-
Id rather a system with no kinks than to have it now, and get recalls over it.
February 10th, 2010 at 2:40 pm
Well then it’s a good thing it comes standard on EX Sorentos. So far the most popular trim level……though not by much.
February 15th, 2010 at 6:49 am
The 2011 Sorento EX or 2011 Sonata Limited have push-button start. The upcoming 2011 Optima and 2011 Cadenza will have it available as well.
Greg- holding out to see if the Sportage will have it as well, or I may be getting the Sorento or Sonata. I do love the feel of small SUV’s and being higher up, without the added weight and diminished fuel economy of a large SUV. I almost bought the new Tucson until I realized no push-button on the Limited! Saddle leather but no push-button.
February 17th, 2010 at 6:25 pm
This car looks nice enough, I pray it’s better made than the 2001-2002 Sportages which have been nothing but problems.
March 2nd, 2010 at 2:11 pm
It’s March 2nd where is the interior shots?
