I really enjoyed that. It nearly looks like it could be from Europe in the black. It’s one hell of a flagship sedan, KIA should be really quite proud. Sadly I will never be able to see one in person.

Is the sound they used for the car starting up sound like an Aston Martin to anyone else!? :P

I hope we don’t get the watered down version in the US market one day, but the guys in marketing will order all the wrong stuff as usual

NO.NO.No.I can’t believe how K7 beat Kia SorentoR.But K7 Luxury car can’t be sport car like sorentoR.

Ibrahim… Sorento R might be a very decent SUV (I wouldn’t even call it off-roader) but it’s hardly a sports car… therefor it’s architecture is wrong and the handling way below standards (for a sports car off course). Sports cars are the likes of Lotus Elise, Nissan 350Z, Porsches, Audi TT or R8, Corvette, MX-5… maybe even M5, RS4, etc…
But a real Kia sports cars (not just a coupe) would be very nice indeed!

So The New York Times is reporting today that Kia is considering something other than Cadenza for the US. Maybe even just keeping Amanti. Anyone have any other info on what else might be under consideration?

What about the Kia Kue? What’s wrong with that name? Na I take that back people might think of Kue as Q.

  8. himi Says:

    November 30th, 2009 at 11:20 pm

I wish Kia would use the Kue, as well as Kee names on some of its vehicles. The Kee should be great for a sports car, while Kue sounds great for a crossover vehicle. The Kee should replace Elan name, which was once a roadster with a Kia badge and it was based on Lotus (i think).

Back to topic, I love this new Kia Cadenza styling. It really is classy and looks georgeous in black. I also love the display where Kia logo appears when you open the doors. Kia really did a great job with this vehicle.

New Haldex AWD platform or Genesis Coupe RWD platform

Very limited number sales. (like lexus lfa)

I’d rather see Kia develop a true RWD sports car for masses, put in a turbo engine with direct injection tech and name it the KEE. I think they need more public recognition rather than billionare recognition. Leave that to Hyundai!

Wow!! I loved the ad for the new K7. You can’t call South Korea a backwater of style, innovation and marketing any-more, can you. They’ve really come a long way in the last year or so. But, as has been said before, Kia need to change the rest of the world’s perception of the vehicles they have on offer. A case in point, is the TV show “Top Gear”, Kia always get laughed off the set and presented as a bit of a joke in the motor industry, but things are changing aren’t they. Remember the Japanese cars of 30 or 40 years ago. But its taken that long.
I think you are right Himi, Kia need a genuine RWD car, or maybe AWD, to compete against the Merc’s and the BMW’s of the world, and in the sports car field I’m afraid its a necessity. As it is, with the K7, 290HP going through the front wheels must take a huge amount of electronic wizardry to keep it in a straight line. My current FWD car has only 235hp and can be a handful if floored, especially in the wet.

Chagee, from what I understand is we arent going to get watered down product from Korea anymore. We will get the same tech as they get.

This Commercial is Sweet!!!!!!!!!!! KIA needs to do something like this for American Consumers, but faster for our attention spans, and instead of things saying K7 they say Cadenza.

  16. HyundaiSmoke Says:

    December 1st, 2009 at 7:11 am

Becuase AWD is coming to the Cadenza that’s why. I think KIA is trying to make the AWD system ultra reliable or something before it hits the market.

Also, in the US Market it would be very nice if KIA had a commercial closing on every commercial with a black screen and a silver and black KIA logo with a child feminine singing voice that says, “KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH”

    You are kidding, right?

The Sorento isn’t even quick, nor does it handle that well. MANY cars can outrun it.

Excellent video clip. The K7 looks great in black!!! Would love to see that wheel style carried over to some of the other KIA offerings, such as the Forte Koup. The K7 is an amazingly styled car, inside and out . . .

  28. Tony Says:

i would bet my balls that this car doesn’t sound like that on start up

    obviously enhanced sound

and the rather lame uturn shows the FWD understeer… only RWD cars can do that properly

if the Sorento is any indication this car will be expensive

it needs to be priced at the same level as the 4 cyl. Honda Accords/Toyota Camrys but it’ll be a lot mor e than that

nice car but i don’t see it being as successful as they would like over here

  30. HyundaiSmoke Says:

    December 7th, 2009 at 7:06 am

Greg, it may sound corny but there’s also a difference between us and Mazda. Mazda’s most fuel efficient car gets 33 MPG, we have a sedan the size of a Whale (Optima) that gets the same gas mileage.

  31. Soulster Says:

    December 9th, 2009 at 12:14 am

Tony why is the Sorento an indication that this car will be $$$??? The base Sorento starts at less then $20,000 … I am sure a fully loaded K7 / Cadenza will not be much more then the previous Amanti.

  32. Greg Says:

    December 9th, 2009 at 3:58 am

I’m afraid we couldn’t even fit Shamu in the back seat of the Optima. And the stuffed animal was only 1/10 to scale. Big bird, on the other hand fit rather well in the Optima.

Are there any Kia Cadenza’s reviews yet? I just iching to know what journalist think. Oh wait Hyundai wants the Journalist to drive the Equus first. How silly of me to forget that Hyundai wants all the attentnion and all the credit for its self. That’s why it wasn’t at the Auto show because Hyundai knew with the Cadenza looks better than its 2 RWD cars, it would take more attention at the NAIAS then Hyundai. I bet Kia’s already finished its new concept but wasn’t allowed to show it because Hyundai didn’t have something new. Kia could have shown the Forte Hybrid but Hyundai had to get the big HEAD with that stupid looking Mazda 3 wanna be Will concept.. F**k Hyundai.
