More high resolution Kia Pride/Rio images surface to the web. For the first time, you can see the revised interior.

Since we brought you the very first images of the 2010 Kia Pride (known as Rio in the US) three days ago, more official images surfaced to the web and here they are. These latest shots showcase a revised Kia Rio in details and also show us a slightly updated interior of the car.

As you can see from the pics, the 2010 Pride/Rio hosts only a few minor styling updates in the cabin. It got the same three-spoke steering-wheel as we have seen in Kia Soul, Forte, Forte Koup and YN prototypes. Green instrumentation lightning from the current model has been changed to more modern red backlighting, while interior also benefits from slightly redesigned metallic gauges.

On the outside, the new Pride/Rio receives a “Schreyer” signature grille and completely redesigned front bumper with Ford Fiesta-like lower air intake. The revised sub-compact Kia also features redesigned  five spoke alloy-wheels and updated side mirrors with turn signals. All-in-all the 2010 Kia Pride/Rio looks sportier and more mature than the outgoing variant.

Under the hood, buyers of the new Kia Pride/Rio will be able to choose from a range of updated diesel and gasoline engines that have all been tweaked to offer higher fuel consumption ratings. The updated 1,6L gasoline engine, mated to the manual gearbox achieves 17km/L (40 MPG US), while 1,5L diesel also mated to manual gearbox gets 22,0km/L (51 MPG US)!

Will this updated 1.6L gasoline/ petrol engine feature the same engine tuning as in the USDM Soul Base, around 122 bhp @6300 RPM?

I mentioned this on the Forte- I dislike how they’ve removed the coolant gauge from the dash instrumentation of their new models.

=DI like that they have made improvements to the interior design and quality – as I have been in a pre-facelift Rio (UK) and the materials were mostly very cheap and scratchy (espcially when compared with the Cee’d).
I am so eager to see what the next-gen Rio will look like though! =D

Yeah, the Rio has automatic temperature control in Korea, obviously the Koreans like to be pampered more than Americans.

I might have to talk my wife in to trading her ’06 Rio in on a 2010 Rio.

Too bad Kia won’t offer an EX Rio with heated leather seats.

Pricing is the factor, heated seats? Kia would lose their butts big time on this, you can buy two Rio’s for 6288 each. Keep it cheap and sell mass quantities. A Diesel version Rio would be a great addition to the line up. But when gasoline is cheap nobody cares too much about fuel mileage. I think there will be a big change with more diesel on the road since the oil companies are lowering the price on diesel now..

That is what the LX is for. Kia sells more LX than EX of everything else, but they still have EX. I have honestly lost Rio sales because the Rio doesn’t have cruise control. Package the Rio like the Forte, and drop the prices $3,000. So, LX with crank windows and optional A/C, EX with Optional premium package (sunroof, 15″ alloys), optional leather package (leather seats and trim items, heated seats), and optional fuel efficiency package (Gamma engine, 5 speed auto, MDPS, silica tires), and then the SX with optional sunroof and leather package. Kia shouls only sell the Rio5 as EX and SX, like the Koup.

I like your thinking Greg about the cruise control and higher level features for the Rio. We have an aftermarket place we sublet through in the service department to install cruise control. It’s not Kia OEM, but they set it up to be under the warranty (the aftermarket place will fix it within the 5yr/60k mile time period). I’d prefer Kia OEM cruise control to an aftermarket installed one, even if it’s under the same warranty, but if Kia won’t offer it, people will go elsewhere to find it.

They also should return to having locking gas caps. They got rid of those on the Rio sedan and the Rondos for 2009. People want to purchase a lock for their gas cap, but Kia doesn’t sell any, even as an accessory! If they’re wanting to cut costs, they should offer some of their deleted features as a purchasable option, for anyone that would prefer that feature…

Jason-good point on the locking gas cap. I have on my Lancer GTS a lid that opens up from the inside to allow access to the gas cap to refuel. This type of thing would work for Kia.

    interior looks class leading
    especially the climate control
    looks decent as a hatch
    looks horrible as a sedan

    wheels look like 13″

I hope they solve or change the cruse control issue from the 2010 model. It currently raises the RPM’s by 200 to 300 higher every time it’s turned on and Kia and Hyundai says they made it like that on purpose.

Sounds like the cable coming from the cruise control module needs to be adjusted. That is another reason I hate throttle cables.

I was going to get the Rondo, but because of the lack of locking gas caps, opted for something else… I am happy with Kia, but they need to do something about this gas cap thing.
