Renowned Kelly’s Blue Book names the 2010 Kia Soul one of the top 10 cooloest cars for the year 2009!
It was announced by Kia today that its 2010 Kia Soul has been named to the Top 10 Coolest New Cars Under $18.000! The Top ten coolest cars were selected by a renowned US automotive organization Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com, which is also known as one of the leading providers of new car information.
Among ten “cool cars” one can find all the main rivals of Kia Soul, including Nissan Cube, Scion xB and Honda Fit. Other cars named in the Top 10 coolest cars under $18 thousand were Smart Fortwo, Subaru Impreza, VW Rabbit (known as Golf in Europe), Mazda3, Suzuki Sx4 and Ford Focus.
There are many reasonable reasons to see the Soul, Cube, Scion and perhaps Honda Fit and Smart Fortwo named as “cool cars”. All of them are hip and cool, attractively styled and very different from the rest of the pretty much ordinary cars found on the market today.
In addition, all five afore-mentioned “cool cars” also come equipped with many fun features (like mood lightning audio speakers) and accessories (spoilers, vinyls, etc…), plus they are fun to drive and available at attractive prices.
And what is that, that makes Subaru Impreza, Suzuki Sx4 and Ford Focus cool? Honestly, I can’t find many reasons for them to be named in the top 10 “cool cars” for 2009. But, editorial team at Kelley Blue Book also used other criteria, such as safety ratings, fuel economy, interior size, comfort and technology. In fact, they used a very similar set of criteria that many consumers use in examining when in the market for new cars.
In a recent announcement, Kia reported it is pleased to see the Soul being recognized for its playfulness and versatility but also that it is appreciated for its economical attributes that affect real world purchase decisions.

One of my friends bought a Soul (Plus, with the Audio Upgrade Package) recently. He said today at work someone gave him a battery powered hamster with it’s own wheel (like in the Soul commercial). He didn’t understand at first, but thought it was funny when they explained the reasoning. As far as I know he loves it; his only problem is the LEDs in the speakers- they seem to work better in the morning than later in the day. They’ll work in sync to the music at a low level when he first gets in it in the morning, but later in the day (once it’s warmed up outside) he has to turn the volume up louder for the same effect. He found somewhere online that says the LEDs are temperature sensitive and work better when it’s cooler. I imagine they’ll work great in the winter time.

Jason,
I had similar comments on the SSML i think in january and if Greg could have killed me over the net, he would have…
Actually I found the leds in the speakers irritating after a while, and I wouldn’t order them again…
