Have been intrigued in the Cube since it was announced. Test drove one and was amazed at the head room and just how well it drove, esp. considering it’s price. The Soul looks like a worthy contender as far as specs, but the rear end looks like it was inspired by the Pontiac Aztec – fail!

My best friend is trying to choose between the two – will be interesting to see what the choice is. It has been fun helping her research both as I think they are both great cars – if you like their styling (which I do).

I have seen one on the road, and it was damaged on rear hatch. Looks as if they were at Walmart or something, and the idiotic horizontal hatch had hit the car in the next parking space. I HATE THE NON-ALLOYS ON THE CUBE! F*** asymmetry.

The cube is by far better than a soul! its a nissan! its boxy!great roo! great features! the soul has a few cool things but looks like a version of a a rav 4 and a jeep. you cant really compare much….yes i own a cube and love it

I’m afraid I aggree with Paul above here. We don’t have the Nissan Cube here in Australia at all and I can see why and after seeing the Soul in the flesh I haven’t warmed to the it’s design either. I haven’t seen any on the road here yet either so I haven’t got a clue of how the sales for the Soul are going. I guess we may have more European tastes here and are over the boxy designs. My personal favorites are the Mazda 2 and the Ford Festiva in the small car field, which are probably more in line with the upcoming Kia KV3. If I wanted a small to medium size MPV I’d go for the Kia Rondo, now that does look a nice modern design.

Oh god, that’s just you know, so funny except it isn’t. Oh, and what, that guy going for the Cube at the end said it is a “modern” design? I guess his definition of modern design is anything after 1950. Just watch the whole damn thing fair and square and you can see Cube guy is making ridiculous excuses/claims just to trying to convince it is a equal of Soul.

As for the rear pillar, thats why your meant to check your mirrors as well!

The transmission, so long as it gets competitive fuel economy (which it does) and transfers the power like any other car (which it does) I don’t really see a problem with a 4-speed gearbox. Yes that 6-speed auto would be nice, but I don’t think the 4-speed is as bad as people make out. When you drive an auto anyway, your not consistently paying attention to what gear you in or anything to do with the gearbox really. Just stick it in D and your off.

The Cube is ugly. As I have said before, the Soul to me at least has a more conventional look to it, but still maintains that rugged boxy look. Unlike the Nissan and Scion which literally just look like boxes with wheels, windows and doors.

No offence, but I think both are FUGLY and far, far away from small european cars like they are produced by Peugeot/Citroen, Fiat, Opel, Seat or even Dacia. The competion in this segment is huge and in europe the other brands offer higher standards (premium look) and better engine/gearbox options, mostly at a compareable/lower price. The good thing is, it’s a personal opinion and Kia has shown a tremendous speed in improvement.

I personally like KIA, but maybe they should stick to the Semi-Premium segment with full-equiped cars and interesting technical features at a very comeptitive price. At least that’s why I want to drive a KIA. Probably that’s why the SUV cars from KIA are/were successfull over here. Ok, the Opirus is nowhere, but it’s really not up-to-date…

All in all, it’s a fine line on what to offer. Maybe the Soul is a good way to attract younger people to the brand. Even if they don’t buy the car, at least they have some sort of attraction to it. That will help selling more expensive cars as well.

The nissan cube is by far the ugliest car ever made. You do not have to try that much to be different. Soul is different but in a cool funky way. Nissan flopped with this one.

soul’s gearbox is a serious drawback. any way… Kia Soul FTW!!!
