Wow, this isn’t tacky and distasteful like the concept! I actually like it! I want to see a real interior. Maybe I’ll have hopes for this car. The concept was just awful. Nice find himi!

Greg I actually think this will be the MPV in Europe, and the Rio or Accent in the US. KIA/Hyundai did say that they were going to make their European Products look different than their American Products, and some cars will be from 1 brand in Europe, but in America is will go under a different brand.

so like the forte is the american/global version of cee’d, there will be another version of this for the rest of the world and will probably be the nxt rio.

Yep Boris, thats a good possibility. I have a feeling the Americans will get the more bolder Rio. The C’eed is a nice car dont get me wrong. Its just that the Forte is a bolder styling exercise.

The American Market is where Hyundai/KIA are really placing their bets. Id imagine a lower larger intake like the Fotre and Soul; that sloping lower grille rather. It will probably get those turn signals in the mirrors. It will have a more aggressive stance as well.

Oh, the global version uses Kia’s popular new headlight-touching-grille design, larger intake, and a lot more straight lines. The drawings look great, now if we could start seeing it replace the current overpriced dinosaur that is the JB Rio we will be in business!!!

I would second all of your emotions and guess this to be the car replacing the old Rio. It’s time! This looks good, and to me the cee’d is a nicely-penned car for Europe. Those pics we’ve been seeing, one of the cars with that gold color, look great. It’s no slouch, but the Forte and Koup are even sportier, the Koup evoking images of the ’68 Camario and Mustang in a way. But even better looking that those Detroit icons. The UAW and CAW, what a bunch of dorks. The CAW is hurting Chrysler’s merger chances with Fiat by trying to keep current wages and bene’s. Can we called them clueless in Cananada?

Perhaps you could Bryan, but only after you learn to spell Canada

Has the same 16-inch wheels as the Forte EX. We can’t see the rear end yet on WorldCarFans. Interior seems to look very good. A Mercedes-Benz B200 for half the money :-)

Thats the point Bernard. In the US market where, Mercedes still lacks the courage to sell A and B classes, these new Hyundai/KIA B and C segment cars (Accent/Rio Elantra/Forte) will own the premium small car class. A dealer told me that in 1.5 Years, Hyundai will get an Accent premium Sport Sedan and 5 Door hatch for the US market, and KIA will get sport 3 and 5 door hatches for the Rio. The Rio should have always had the 3 door anyway. The first Rio (Ford Apsire) had a 3 door hatch. They will also have Turbo and Hybrid motors available, and well as a 1.6 Gamma Standard engine.

By the way Greg, expect the Next Generation Accent to be in the $14,000-$17,000 Loaded(Leather, Auto Climate control, chrome, etc…) price bracket, with bare bones ones (still have some features like power windows and standard alloys.) to be about $11,000-$12,000. The Rio will be about $9000 for a bare boneser to $14,000 Loaded. So in other words, keeping true to the companys new mission the Rio will be cheaper for the next gen.

  13. HyundaiSmoke Says:

    April 16th, 2009 at 10:55 pm

Those are conservative estimates, I think however, the Accent espeically will cost a few grand more than all of those projections. They want to move away form offering the same features outside of powertrain and platform for both KIA and Hyundais. They also want to do away with similar pricing on models that share platforms as well.

Will if the Accent gets leather seats, the Rio better get skylighting.

  15. HyundaiSmoke Says:

The Rio will be given something unqiue besides body styling, materials, etc. They dont say what.

Is the Soul and YN the only Kias without auto climate control? I have never seen a Soul or YN with auto climate control. It is available in (almost) every other Kia on the International market, even the Picanto, Rio and LD Spectra come with auto climate control in select markets! Where is it on the Soul? Next-gen Rio should have a high end leather option (as will 2012 Soul, along with 2.0 Theta and 2.0 Theta turbo in 2012 Soul, I don’t want to give away too much, though). I am looking forward to 3, 4, and 5 door GB Rio!

    Greg,
Picanto does not come with auto Climate Control. It is always manual airco (as is the soul in most/all European markets). I guess the YN will come with the same auto climate control as the cee’d family (as of EX trim)

W.Wilson, I intentionally spelled Canada Cananada. I will occasionally spell Cadillac as Cadidillac, too, because I do not fully completely respect Cadidillac, nor do I respect GM. Do I respect Cananada? Oh, yes, of course I do! =:)

  21. Greg Says:

    April 17th, 2009 at 7:37 pm

Yeah, Picanto in at least one market has auto climate control.

i love it! its like a cooler looking honda fit. i wonder where it’d slot if they brought it to the US (like i HOPE they will)… it looks like a Rio replacement possibly but its too close to the soul in size, etc. hmmm…

  23. HyundaiSmoke Says:

    April 20th, 2009 at 3:17 am

Joshy, a Soul is only about 1/2 inch longer when parked next to an Accent 3 door, Its much taller though. The Accent and Next gen Rio will be higher up in height. As Hyundai/KIA will be selling cars on the same platform but with different body styles. I think the Europeans will probably get the low slung hatches. The i20 is lower and long than the Getz, I think the Accent and Rio will be Longer than the Getz, but higher up. Remember, Americans are downsizing to smaller cars, and the biggest complaint about B-segments, is they are not high up enough. Then again, Peter Schrayer did say the Rio was going to be called the No.2 Concept, debuting soon. It would have a similar styling to No.3, but there would be different elements.

  24. HyundaiSmoke Says:

    April 20th, 2009 at 3:18 am

Just say this is a Next Gen Rio Plus I guess, and size by a few inches will probably be the only difference.

Yeah, The Kia YN definetly looks way better than the Honda Fit, but can be a great competitor to the Toyota Yaris (5-Door).
