Hmmmm, I'm a huge fan of the Sorento and have been waiting patiently for this new model to be shown and released.
I've got my pen in hand, poised above a contract to buy one of these vehicles, but the jury is still out for me, with the styling in the side view, especially after the the rear door. The downward sweeping line, at the rear and that dickie looking small "quarter" window, then the thick looking D-pillar. Now don't get me wrong, it might be a great looking vehicle in real life, with a streamlined look for a cross-over vehicle, which is the market niche it's aiming for now, but I reckon it may lose some of it's practicality value, where the owner wants the extra stowage space he/she expects from a 4WD vehicle.
You guys in the states have the Borego for that larger 4WD vehicle, we don't here in Australia.
So I'll have to wait and see what it looks like when we get some "real" photos in the future, as I did like the look of the Sorento in the rendered shots from "leftlanenews.com" late last year and by the look of it they were pretty close.

Also, when you get to New York, if the Sorento and Borrego are not too far apart, can you try and take a picture of both of them togather?

It's not amazing to me. GM amazes me. They make 4 versions of the same vehicle (Acadia, Traverse, Enclave, Outlook) and then they price them all differently, while the features don't really change. If GM only made one or two versions of each vehicle platform, they wouldn't be in the mess they are in. Instead of having a Chevy, Buick, GMC, and Saturn for the same platform, just build it as a Chevy, and give it another trim level or two! And, instead of making tons of different commercials to try to differentiate the brands, CONSOLIDATE! The corporate f***ers might be able to think of stuff like that if their heads weren't so far up their ass with their bonuses they got for doing NOTHING! And we should bale them out why? After a certain point, the ship can't be baled out anymore, and you've gotta let it sink. Let GM, Ford, Chrysler sink with their huge ignorant egos.

And when you get there Greg, make sure your cammra woorks. This new Sorento is big news. and I love the fact that even if this is on the Veracruz platform, I don't see Veracruz in it like how I see a Saturn Outlook in the GMC Accadia. Amazing isn't it?

Well, as of the end of 2010, aren't all Kia engines supposed to be all-aluminum? The 1.6 Alpha is going out, replaced with Gamma, Beta is getting replaced by Theta, those were the only 2 iron blocks left. The 3.5 was definitely as K-Sport said, a dinosaur. Heavy, under-powered, and about 13 MPG in the city. OH, and "we have heard rumor spreading around that we might see the 2010 Kia Sorento to be brought to New York International Auto Show, which is opening it’s doors to the public on April 10." Himi, I made sure that it was confirmed that Sorento would be at New York before I left Chicago. It will be there, I promise.

I'm glad that Kia-Hyundai have been replacing their entire engine line-up! I just can't wait to drive their latest cars with latest engine technology.
-
I'm also looking forward to the near future family of turbocharged gasoline engines, coming to the market very very soon. There is 1.6L turbo in the works, the 2.0L is already available in Genesis Coupe and we have heard rumors about 1.2L turbo powerplant as well.
