Kia has officially announced that it’s all-new Soul crossover will go on sale in Canada in February 2009. Destined to appeal to a whole new group of Canadian consumers, the Soul urban crossover will challenge consumers to change the way they think about Kia.
In Canadian market, the 2010 Soul will be available with either a 1.6 litre four cylinder gasoline engine developing 122 horsepower, or a 2.0 litre, 142 horsepower gasoline engine and 5 different trim levels, with each of them adding a fair share of unique equippment.
Starting the range will be the base Kia Soul, which packs a factory-fit radio/CD player with MP3 compatibility, 5-spped manual transmission, six airbags, 15-inch steel wheels, power locks, windows and mirrors, Bluetooth hands free connectivity, and heated seats . It is powered by 122-hp four-cylinder engine and features 15-inch steel wheels.
The Soul 2u is powered by 2.0 litre engine and adds front tweeter speakers, front side fender integrated turn signals, “Soul” patterned seat cloth, roof rails and keyless entry and 16-inch wheels to the standar equippment. Every Kia Soul, equipped with 2.0-L engine will be fitted with four wheel disc brakes, with ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) as standard equipment.
Moving up one trim-level, the Soul 4u offers 5-spoke alloy-wheels wrapped with the 18-inch rubber (wheels), leather wrapped steering wheel, premium audio system and Sirius satellite radio with three month subscription.
Next on the trim level line is the Soul 4u Retro, offering the “Houndstooth” beige and black seat pattern and interior colours among its features.
The top of the line Soul 4u Burner includes a red and black colour scheme sure to turn heads, and a “Burner” red and black seat pattern. Rounding out the key options that the Soul Burner offers are “Wide View” bumpers and a rear spoiler.

glad its finally made it, looks like you got the info from the KIA Canada website, however, there is no listing for the Soul or prices, in fact they don’t even have info on the 2009 Magentis (Optima) but they do have the prices – pretty slow on their website.

Conwelpic- what do they use in Canada for the DRLs? I don’t mean which light, but what is used to have them? I’ve seen in the fuse and junction box something with DRL on the label, but there was nothing there. And we have no way to buy that, as far as I know. So if someone wants DRLs we can’t help them, just say to turn their low beams on (and hope all the other bulbs being used don’t burn out quicker!).
I’m curious why KMC is using different trim terms compared to the KMA Soul…

Yeah it’s weird Kia decided to use the Korea trim levels for the Canadian version instead of the US trim levels

Oh yeah, is Kia going to use this 1.6L engine for the Rio? That’s a decent boost to the horsepower rating (110 bhp vs 122 bhp), and the Rio and Rio 5 possibly (not sure!) weigh less, are lower to the ground and have a smaller area, reducing wind resistance.
And they should bring one of the CRDi engines too, since Canada isn’t as strict as the Tier 2 Bin 5 in the USA.
We have a few of the Showroom only Souls at our dealerships with diesel engines, but we can’t get that engine so the people are confused as to why they can see one with a diesel, but can’t buy one.

Well, when people ask why they can’t have a diesel, tell them it is because of the people that THEY elected. Unreal, Canada gets standard seat warmers, and USA doesn’t even have them as an option. MY ASS GETS JUST AS COLD AS A CANADIAN’S ASS!

Jason – regarding DRL, I have a 15 amp fuse in that slot. Can’t post a picture on this page but will do it on the Rondo/Carens section.

But you don’t want a Soul anyway, Greg, do ya?
