The 2010 mini-MPV from Kia Motors, has shown up again, this time in the snow. A prototype vehicle, heavily disguised with black camo covers, has been spotted in Northern Scandinavia during some cold weather durability testing.
The upcoming “cee’d plus” will go on sale across the Europe late this year, as a 2010 model, and to make sure that the car feels home in any climate, Kia engineers have taken the testing to cold and snowy northern parts of Europe.
As we mentioned before, the 2010 Kia YN will be manufactured by Hyundai Motor’s at it’s high-tech European manufacturing facility, located in Czech Republic, together with it’s sibling model from Hyundai.
Since the car is riding on the same platform that underpins the recently released Soul crossover, both vehicles will use the same propelling powerplants. The new “cee’d plus” engine range will consist of a fuel-sipping 1,4 and 1.6L four cylinder diesel and gasoline engines, each achieving a clas leading fuel economy.
The 2010 Kia YN will also feature an eco-friendly ISG (Idle Stop&Go) system, which achieves up to 15% fuel reduction during the city driving. The system has just recently been successfully incorporated to the cee’d ISG, which will go on sale accros the Europe by the end of the next month. [Source:Globalmotors.net ]

Too bad we won’t see this vehicle in North America

Yeah, that’s really bad. This will be another great car from Kia. I predict it a very nice future here in Europe with mini MPV market rising pretty fast. However, the competition is not resting and just about every automaker will soon be bringing imilar vehicle to the market.
-
But Kia has nothing to worry about, the YN’s gonna have a really nice exterior design, and interior seems to be a step above over the B-, and C-segment Kias that we now have (Rio or Picanto). Engines will be good too and if the ride is similar, but a tad more comfortable than on the Soul, we have a winner here.
-
It’s main competitors will be the Citroen C3 Picasso, Honda Fit/Jazz, Opel Meriva, Renault Modus and upcoming Ford Fiesta and VW Polo vans.

Because it is smaller than Cee’d, shouldn’t it be the Cee’d minus?

ISG is already on sale in Europe, and no it is not smaller than cee’d…

That’s right Bornloser, but the ISG will spread to other models. At the Soul press conference we were told that ISG will be available in smaller vehicles as well and that includs the YN, Soul (I guess) next gen Rio, and possibly a Picanto too.

The problem I have with so many good & similar vehicles coming from Kia at the same time, that it becomes increasingly difficult to decide which will be better for me. I had pretty well decided on the Soul! fully loaded, and now I am presented with another choice that may (or may not) ever see the US shores. Perhaps once I finally get to see the Soul! in April, I will be clearer.

Kia YN is not for US. its for europe…

Bobl-yep, corss the Kia YN off of your futures list. It’s not coming to the U.S. Yeah, Kia has another good car coming out in the YN, complete with IS&G, that’s excellent. Kia is solidifying their future with new rigs like this. Hyundia’s similar car to this is the i10, or something like that, is that true? So the small Hyundai car and the Kia YN will roll off the same production line?

YN will compete with the likes of Golf Plus, Mercedes B, etc…
January 22nd, 2009 at 7:26 pm
Bryan: Hyundai i10 is equivalent of Picanto and even smaller than YN. YN’s gonna compete against Honda Jazz, Opel Meriva, Renault Modus and other B-egment cars.

Oh, I tried to pair the YN with a smaller Hyundai rig, sounds like.

This should come to N. America this would make a great Metrix rival. The YN grew on me; I like it now. It looks diffrent. At first I thought it was ugly but when I look deep inside it’s diffrent like the Soul. The inside looks like an upscale cee’d while the outside looks more like a CUV than a MPV. I can’t wait to find out what the names of this and the VG are going to be. I wish it could be used as the next Spectra 5 but this is on a Rio platform. I also can’t wait until we see the European Rio and American Rio (I bet ours, the American version, will be better though lol).
