UPDATE: 11 high quality Kia Soulster concept car images released today!! Click here

Kia Motors America has released the second teaser image, which previews the upcoming Soul based concept car. The Kia Soulster concept is due to be displayed at the upcoming North American International Auto Show.

The Soulster concept car foretells a possible two-door Soul variant with topless rear-hatch-end. The name Soulster is a derivate of two words: Soul + roadster; so judging by the concept’s name, there is a great chance that indeed, we are looking at the two-door Soul variant with removable soft-top.

This is the second teaser shot released by Kia in the last fourteen days and since it doesn’t reveals us much of the overall concept’s shape (and keeps us guessing how the actual concept car’s going to look like), we think that there will be another teaser image released before Kia Soulster concept makes it’s official public unveiling. Sort of reminding me of the first generation Freelander, it came as a soft/hard back variant that was removable.

Hmmmm. Tempted to wait and see. I’ve never had a removeable soft-top. I wonder when they will be offered for sale in the U.S?

It’s almost like the Retona is being reborn but with a diffrent name. Its like they’re reopening this segment with a unibody this time. And so far what I’m allowed to see, not only does this appear to be a coupe but it looks as if its in its own form like the Soul. Well I have less than a week to finally see this.

I bet this Soulster concept would look like the old short wheel base, 2dr Suzuki Samurai…

That’s exactly what I’m expecting to see when more pics are released, VWOOM!

Do you think two-door Soul with removeable hard (or soft) top would be a success?
Was a Sportage soft-top a success for Kia?

Himi, yeah I picture it in my head akin to the Samurai, based on the teaser shots you posted….

I think barring any rollover “controversies” (Feds mandate an anti-rollover tech aka “electronic stability control” by 2012 on all cars) that led to the Suzuki Samurai’s demise in the US…I’d bet this Soulster, should it be produced would be a hit.

Soft or hard top?…I imagine a black hard top (with the chiseled and smooth lines of the Soul)-ster would look nice.

Sportage soft top??…I don’t recall seeing one here in Los Angeles. Mostly the 4dr types around these parts…

Greg, I see no reason why WE should be deprived of this exciting info. ;-)

Don’t think Kia will send anything ‘exciting’ to himi until the press day of the motorshow or they will send it first to himi and give strict instructions to only post it on the press day. :)
