Next generation Kia Sorento prototype has made it’s public appearance again. This time, it was spotted near Kia’s research and development centre in Germany while on a test run. Again, the prototype wears tons of black plastic, not letting us see much of it’s exterior design, but at least we can get to see the interior completely undisguised!
We have already seen the first interior shot of the 2010 Sorento. It was a few months ago, when Autoweek published it’s exclusive Sorento preview. But their interior image was not as revealing as this one here, plus, it was of low quality.
So what do you think of Sorento’s interior design? Do you find any resemblance with other Kias, like Forte or Soul? Is it just me or does the radio unit in Sorento features similar knobs as the one found on Soul?
Just to let you know, these are not the only spy shots that appeared on the web yesterday. Guys over at Carscoop.blogspot have managed to get some more pictures, including three interior shots, which are providing even more details on 2010 Sorento interior. Visit their site here: Click here!
UPDATE:
We were talking about official Sorento debut, and according to sources close to Kia, Sorento wil make it’s official debut at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show in March next year.

Hmmm, I think we will “only” see these: Sorento, Soul, Soul van, Spectra Koup and perhaps a Rio facelift. Oh yes, the VG will also go on sale, but at first, only in Korea.

I can’t wait for the new Sorento. I’ve had the current version on my shopping list for a while, but I’m not one to purchase anything at the end of it’s model life, irrespective of it’s price. Especially with a lot of the forecast modern updates. A new dash layout, 6 speed auto trans, a newer and more powerful and more economical diesel engine, much better handling on the tar and hopefully not losing any of it’s off road ability and ground clearance. A lot to look forward to. The one thing I don’t like is the maximum towing weight being less, how much we’ll have to wait and see.

One thing that surprised me by looking at the interior photos of the new Sorento on the Carscoop site, was that it doesn’t appear to have climate control like most new car have these days, even my “old” 2006 Mitsubishi has it. With the knobs and dials it had it appears to be a manually operated air-cond and heating system. Not that it really worries me, I think climate control is a bit over-rated, now that I’ve had it, but it is a marketing tool for people that have never had it before.

I was never a big fan of Kia, but I really have to say this is a great looking car. I also hear they they launching a few new cars next year.

OzyTone, AUto A/C is usually optional with Kias…

Auto temp is standard on some EX models, like the Optima and Sorento. Standard on Amanti, optional on EX Rondo (for some reason only 2007 model), optional on EX Sedona, Standard on EX Borrego,

The rumors we get here ’bout a Soul van would be a vehicle similar to the minivans like Renault Kangoo, Citroen Berlingo, Opel Combo and/or Volkswagen caddy.

Thanks for the update, but I don’t get it. Why would they debut the made in America Sorento in another country. I still think it will debut at New York or Chicago.
