Just a day after we published some fresh news on the 2009 Kia Optima, I noticed that Kia Motors America also updated it’s official website. At their website you can now find complete information on the refreshed Optima sedan, including pricing list, powertrain specifications, image gallery and other stuff.
Below, I have enclosed some 09 Optima pictures that I have found on KMA’s website. You can check them out and post a few comments on the car’s design.

O yeah, with the koup…

Looks nice. Gas mileage is good too. I like the loaded 4-cyl myself. I would think it would perform even better than the Hyundai Sonata given it’s about 150 lbs lighter.

Is this the most beautifully designed Kia? I certainly think so. It’s sporty and elegant. It should be like this when it first debut two years ago, and it would also sell better. Hope sales will improve in the next few months.

First Kia using Schreyer grille in the USA!
October 27th, 2008 at 6:48 pm
they’re using it everywhere. we saw it on the forte as well at the sydney auto show. I think UAE doesnt get the SX optima. cuz I havent seen an optima in the yard with that black grille.

looks great. the sx with the blacked out bezels and grille looks especially hot.

Did you notice the ECO light in the main, speed cluster? It blinks green and in that moment you should change the gear in order to keep your fuel consumption low as much as posible.
In my opinion, this is a very useful feaure that any Kia should have!!
Unfortunately we know the Soul and Forte don’t have it…

Smart looking sedan from Kia Motors of South Korea. IMO Kia just keeps getting better and better with every passing year.

I noticed that ECO lighting too. I don’t know if this looks better with or without chrome.

I am driving one right now as a demo and I must say that it is a much nicer ride then the 08′s that I have driven. Question:: Does anyone have any information on the USB plug Kia is going to make for their cars such as when it will be available? I have had some customers question it and we haven’t heard anything as a dealer.

What do you mean? The cable that connects the ports to the iPod?
October 28th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
I thought its already in the new models.now, what else can it be besides the iPod USB… a USB jack to download the details of the car when servicing? [not sarcasm]
October 28th, 2008 at 6:17 pm
The cable depicted in the images above looks like it spans both the USB and AUX jacks. It’s not a standard cable by the look of it. I’m guessing it’s a Kia/Hyundai part.
October 28th, 2008 at 6:53 pm
optima owners. could you tell the time it took for 0-60. any model after 2006.
October 28th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
I am talking about the cable not the jack sorry should have been more specific.

Boris, here’s alink to an article on MT where they got 8.8 seconds for 0-60 on the 4cyl Optima with auto transmission:
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/sedans/112_0806_four_cylinder_midsize_sedan_comparison/accord_sonata_optima_galant_specs.html
It’s a good article by the way. The 2008 Optima comes out close to midpack which isn’t bad considering the 2009 changes were on their way. I’d imagine that the 2009 Optima would score similarly to the 2009 Sonata if this test were conducted again.

Running on Premium gasoline (93 Octane) with full synthetic motor oil on dry flat pavement, 2 passengers, empty trunk, mileage 15,267, in sport shift mode – we went from zero to 60 in 7.6 seconds @ 5,500 RPM in second gear.

My 2009 Optime has the trip computer and automatic transmission. What should the ECO do? I never see anything happen with it.

The ECO light on the 2009 Optima is not functional in the United States, nor is the glowplug indicator. Kia uses the SAE measurement (MPH, miles, etc.) gauges in the USA and the UK, and in the UK the ECO indicator and diesel engine (glowplugs) are available. It wouldn’t make logical sense to have a different cluster for USA and UK markets.

Then my KIA Optima must think it’s in another country. My ECO light has worked from day one.
February 18th, 2010 at 4:26 am
Yes, the Optima has ECO light. My mistake.

I been seeing a lot of these 09′ Optimas on the road ever since that big Toyota recall. Just today, I seen about 7 09′ Optimas. SEVEN. Infact, I’m seeing more Fortes, Rios, Rondos, Souls and Optimas everday. I only saw one 2011 Kia Sorento on the road.
