Those of you who have been waiting patiently for the new Kia Optima to show up, one of our dear readers Greg has just informed us that 2009 Kia Optimas (facelifted models) started to show up at US Kia dealers!
With the facelift, Kia Optima received a myriad of improvements. It’s exterior now features a beautiful chrome signature grille and updated headlamps.
In front, you can also find sportier front bumper with larger air intakes and trapez shapped fogg-lights, while at the back, you can find newly designed L-shaped tail-lights. Standard on the 2009 Optima are turn signals integrated exterior mirrors, while a redesigned 17-inch alloy wheels are standard on high-end SX model.
The Optima is available with two powertrains, which power and torque has been increased: a 175 horsepower 2,4L four-cylinder engine and a 192 horsepower 2,7L V6. Both are paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission. There are also some new colors available for the 2009MY Optima and those include: Metal bronze, ebony black, Bright silver, Ruby red, Clear white, Midnite blue, Pearl white, and Midnight gray.
One more thing: For 2009, Kia Optima finally gets an optional, in-dash built navigation system. You can check a long list of standard and optional features for 2009 Optima SX by continuing your read after the jump.

Also, there is no V6 available on the LX model, and LX models are available with Manual (5 speed)

Greg, can you please not use all caps when trying to suggest a correction, or better yet, submit your corrections to Himi using the contact link. It seems really rude especially since Himi gave you props for this article in the first place. He’s a reasonable person and will more than likely incorporate any suggested fixes without shouting them at him.

looking past the quibbling here, the new optima looks beautiful. the front end is very saab-like, which i’m a huge fan of. i’ve never really ogled a sedan before, but this one is really, really attractive. can’t wait to see the official brochure pics!

Usage of all caps is not considered emphasis, it’s considered shouting. Multiposting (successive postings rather than all points consolidated in a single post) is another example of behavior to avoid if possible. I also alluded to how your behavior could be perceived rather than attack you personally. It was constructive criticism that you took the wrong way. Basically, you completely reinforced the point I was trying to make rather than refuting it. In fact, based on the input of a few, you broad brushed an attack against *all* the posters here.
The information you provided here (the article and not your posts in this thread) is good, and I’m genuinely interested in reading about this car, but you really need to work on how you interact with others or you’re going to find yourself treated poorly and probably not understand why. If you’re trying to sell someone a car and they question some of the information you provide, how will you react to that in a face-to-face confrontation? How you handle criticism really can say a lot about your character. My original post really focused on the fact that you could have communicated your corrections to Himi the same way you communicated the original information. He usually posts an update with information about what he changed and why. It would have avoided 90% of the content of this thread (basically all the content except for discussion of the actual vehicle in question).
My last point is this. The 2009 Optima looks very good in blue.

While viewing the KIA USA site, I became a bit confused while viewing pics of the ’09 Optima. There are three front ends represented in the pics, one Ford 500′esque without the “H grill” simply mesh; the next with the “H” but with chrome crossbars; and the third mesh with the “H” grill. Are all three variations of the front end going to be offered in the USA or is this just an attempt by KMA to fill webspace with the images until US only spec model pics are taken???? Clarification please.

hell yeah a 6 speed optima even with the new 4 cyl turbo of the genesis coupe would be awesome! just give it bigger turbo for more power & they’d have their first sports sedan. (in the most important US car market)
