O look. the steering’s dying!!! haha!
.
sorry. I’m still in a mood for criticizing things. just returned from a UAE car blog which had an article about the 2009 toyota fortuner. All the members including gave it lots of thumbs down
ANyway, the colour looks great with the black to contrast. you know the soul in the vid which i sent himi had red backlighting for the gauges. why are these white?
September 29th, 2008 at 3:38 pm
love the two tone. much, much better than the red and black one… Ksport, its probably combined… dont complain tho, i remember from somewhere that white is the most expensive led color to get and then blue… greenish yellow being the cheapest, unsurprisingly~
September 29th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
unsurprisingly indeed. looks cheap too. have it on sportage. the nissan sunny [sentra] we had, had white lighting. The best looking it red-orange. to me atleast
September 29th, 2008 at 4:56 pm
its prob that electro-luminescent lighting like the Mazda 3 & some optimas have. its white in the daytime & red @ night… just a guess. like i said, most mazdas are like that.
September 29th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
mazda 3 and 6 have red lighting always. when the car is turned off, that backlight goes off and blends with the background to make the markings invisibe. kinda like the light of the indicator lights on speedometers [cant see them when they go off] except its red.

Blue is soft and easy on my eyes. Red kind of hurts my eyes. I like the orange backlighting in the Rondo.
September 29th, 2008 at 6:11 pm
I dunno. I like red more than blue. Thats why I feel Kia’s logo looks better than hyundai’s blue logo.
September 29th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
I agree that The blue used on Hyundai’s logo’s is not that great. I like the light blue like our Optima has. Never seen a car with a dark blue interior lights. I prefer orange over red.
September 29th, 2008 at 11:52 pm
I wonder if the Soul will have tilt like a big car does.
September 30th, 2008 at 12:56 am
ummm why wouldn’t it have tilt? anyone notice that the interior LEDs on kia is red & hyundai’s is blue? ya’ll are talking about the logo and it jogged my memory.
September 30th, 2008 at 2:15 am
Yeah they said that’s what they’re gonna do from now on in a media event earlier this year.
September 30th, 2008 at 2:18 am
Oh the reason being that they reckon blue looks more luxurious and calming, while red symbolizes sportiness and gets your heart+adrenaline pumping…
September 30th, 2008 at 4:48 am
That’s why I like the Optima’s blue backlighting. It is really calming. Thankk you Patrick. The blue backlighting is my natural high!

VAG-Group:
Audi: Red lighting
VW: Blue lighting
Skoda: Green lighting
Seat: Red lighting
And what color are their respective logo’s again….
September 30th, 2008 at 9:52 am
Good point. Yeah, I would have never thought of it that way.
September 30th, 2008 at 2:41 pm
neither did I. but the japs dont do it that way. just look at their logo colours and compare to their lighting. toyota is red logo, honda is red, mazda is blue, nissan is red and blue and daihatsu is red.
September 30th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
That is why Europe is better. (Sorry, I don’t like Tokyo)
September 30th, 2008 at 4:39 pm
Kia is red, Hyundai is blue… as for the lightings…
September 30th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
as for the lightings. Kia’s is red and hyundai’s is blue [for their new cars that is.]
October 1st, 2008 at 1:29 am
anyways.. enough about the lighting lol! greg, why dont you like japanese cars??? the japs are the creators of the S13-15, KPGC10, KPGC110, BNRR32-34, AE86, FC3S, FD3S, all the EVOs and more recently the R35… all of these are legendary cars and no-one can change that… back on topic now~
October 1st, 2008 at 3:31 am
I can’t stand Japanese cars because they are ugly and HIGHLY overrated. What is so good about them? I just don’t get why people are so infatuated with them!
October 1st, 2008 at 3:31 am
I like the pulsing lights idea. That’s really cool.
October 1st, 2008 at 1:53 pm
I´m sorry but the interior reminds me the Kia Rio. Unfortunally i dont like very much, i think is oldfashion, I dont like the stering wheel in two colours. Outside i think the Soul have a very good design.
October 1st, 2008 at 2:34 pm
It’s definitely not too far out there as far as interior design, but I certainly wouldn’t call it conservative with the two tone dash and seats. If they made it too out there, I don’t think they’d pull as many people in. This vehicle is not only going to appeal to the young generation, but I think it will appeal to those downsizing, perhaps those whose kids have left the house. The seating position is not unlike an SUV or a minivan, but it has the gas mileage of a small sedan. I see as many older folks with Scion xB’s as I see younger drivers.
October 1st, 2008 at 3:43 pm
Actually there is only one reason why I wouldn’t buy it so far… The pulsing lights!
October 1st, 2008 at 4:05 pm
thats optional.
October 1st, 2008 at 4:24 pm
The pulsing lights around the speakers rock! But that’s only a minor reason to love the Kia Soul.
October 1st, 2008 at 4:38 pm
I guess some people might like the pulsing lights, but then again: some people even like pink figaro’s… (as seen on kia-forums dot com)
But for me: no thanx! Furthermore i wonder how much young (and relatively unexperienced) drivers will be distracted by the pulsing lights… But that, of course, is an other discussion!
October 1st, 2008 at 5:52 pm
Few young drivers might just keep the lights dim or turned off when he drives alone and brightens it to show it off to his friends when he takes them for a ride.
October 1st, 2008 at 10:24 pm
For me i am well over the age of fifty and i need the lights to keep me awake during night drives…..
October 2nd, 2008 at 7:08 am
Its 2nd October at last!!!
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:17 am
the official site says its on 4th…
October 2nd, 2008 at 12:10 pm
From the official KME media website:
” …Kia Press Conference
The Kia Soul urban crossover will make its world premiere on the Kia stand (No 520, Hall 5) at the Paris International Motor Show at 16.45 hrs on 2 October 2008. …”
That’s 4 hours and 36 minutes away….
October 2nd, 2008 at 12:24 pm
how the hell? the paris motorshow official site says 4th to 19th…
October 2nd, 2008 at 1:02 pm
I should explain you about the official days at the auto shows:
For the press, it starts on 2nd, while for public it opens on 4th!
Those who have visted such an important auto show do know, that once the show is opened for public, it’s quite impossible to take some good video or images, because there are hundreeds of visitors checking out exhibited cars, therefore, automotive press journalists get to the show a day or two earlier than the rest of the “world”.
October 2nd, 2008 at 1:17 pm
O yeah! how could I forget….
