Contact Kia immediately and report this dealer. It is against federal law to deny fixing a recall. 1-800-333-4542.

my 2008 has needed the fuel pump replaced…the dealer claimed i got bad gas…so i think they were trying to push off a warranty issue onto my insurance company…mine of course is the 2.7 engine…anyone else with this problem

Ok, all my problems appear to be fixed. This all started back in Nov. I ended up with a new fuel pump and a new throttle body something or another. Even after they replaced my fuel pump, I still had the issue of the check engine light coming on. I just kept bringing it into the dealer. Finally they figured it out and all is well after a month or so! I still love my rondo!!!

Driving a 2008 Ronda since mid Aug’08: Since day 1 the lights & horn didn’t sound, when using the fob to lock the doors. Finally had time to bring it in to Kia, and the Body Control Module was replaced (warranty) in just under 2 hours & all is well now, fyi.

Driving a 2008 Ronda since mid Aug’08. Got a phone call from my dealer in Jan ’09 (Toornto Canada), with just under 10000km. This recall to fix fuel pump was resolved. Didn’t have any problems, before that. Fyi.

I was just on an overnight trip from Northern VA down to VA Beach. 3 hours from home. I got down there ok, but when I got in the car to return, when I turned on my car, the engine light came on. I tried to drive it and there was a very noticable hesitation in the start to drive mode. Couldn’t get the car up to speed.

I called KIA and they towed it to local dealer. Of course today is Saturday and I had to get myself back home. The kia people wouldn’t even do anything for me, they said it was the dealerships responsibility and the dealership said it was Kia’s responsibility. Thank goodness my friends that i stayed with had a car I could use for the week.

So here I am, the weekend before Thanksgiving my 2007 Rondo had to be left at an out of town dealership. When speaking to the service person, just before the service department closed, he said that it definetly sounded like it was the fuel pump. Oh Boy!!!

Good question, seems to me they usually only go back 10 years or so. And himi, that’s good you put the company phone number right at the end of the article so people can easily contact Kia if they have a question about the recall, and how it might affect them and their Kia Rondo.

Recalling cars is nothing embarrassing Greg, infact, it’s better to recall the car and fix the failure than leave the owner with troubles on his car.

We own a Hyundai Accent as a second car in a family and a few days ago received a letter (recall) from our dealer to bring the car for a small repair. Nothing special, you’d say. But the interesting fact is, that our Accent is a ’95 model, so more than ten years old, and I’m interested in for how many years to the past do the companies issue recalls?

If you notice “KIA RECALL NO. SC074.” in the Notes section, that is meaning this it the 74th recall for Kia of the USA. Some recalls are a simple thing (Sorento seat belt rattle, Sportage owner’s manual with an incorrect picture), some are more complex (Sorento Induction Control Valve, Rondo Fuel Pump). As some others have mentioned, no manufacturer is immune to recalls. And the recalls aren’t necessarily the fault of that manufacturer either- as a hypothetical example, Kia might use Bosch spark plugs in some of their models. If Bosch has an issue that could be a safety problem, Kia will have to do the recall. That same Bosch problem could affect Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Honda, Toyota, etc., basically any manufacturer affected by the part source’s (in this hypothetical situation it is Bosch) problem.

nobody is immuned from recalls, but if you discover a serious problem its much better for everyone, to own up and take measures to correct it, than face the consequences if you ignore it. No manufacturer wants it as it can cost a lot to correct it, but its still cheaper than the possible “fall out”.

Check out other manufacturers history, you will find some massive recalls just like colby said, I think Toyota had one a couple of years ago.

To me, it proves the manufacturer is taking responsibility for his product and that follow up and checks via dealer inputs are being followed.

Greg, seriously, every manufacturer has recalls. This one is really minor and not even a safety related issue. It affects less than 7000 vehicles in all as opposed to Ford’s cruise control issue which was known to cause “unintended incineration” to a group of vehicles several orders of magnitude larger than Kia’s.

recalls happen all the time. 6680 is nothing compared to other automakers. Take fords 1+ million truck recall in 2006. That sucks
