As we are getting closer to the official launch, several Kia Soul brochures and catalogues are being released to the Kia dealers. So far, we managed to get a hold of the Korean Kia Soul brochure that revealed the Soul will be launched with a variety of exterior accessories, options and colors.

Today, I’m going to post the Canadian Soul accessories catalogue that was sent to me from our dear reader Rob W., who just returned from National Canadian Kia dealer meeting, where he got to see the Soul, Forte and facelifted version of Optima sedan.

Thanks for the images Rob!

Can someone please explain what is the B-pillar applique (second image)! This is the first time i hear the word and the small image doesn’t help me a lot to figure it out.

i think he meant applique. an applique is basically a decal, or sticker. something of the sort.

Bumper protector is standard on the Rondo at Williams Kia. Isn’t it amazing? No one says a single thing until something Soul related comes on.

doesnt look like it but those red wheels look better. dont ya think? those cargo accersories in the last pic will make soul look like a small soft off-roader.

hmm… fake 6 cylinder engine cover lol??? also, is that a real CF mirror cover, Rob???

  15. Ksport(Boris) Says:

    September 16th, 2008 at 1:03 pm

Yeah, some pix are not of soul. the hood deflector is on sportage. the bicycle roof rack is on a sedan and the keyless entry pic has a Carens or something. Even the trailer hitch pic doesnt seem to be of soul’s. wonder what trailer a 1.6L can pull…

  16. Ksport(Boris) Says:

    September 16th, 2008 at 1:07 pm

O and I think the mirror cover is from a spectra or a non-Kia.

  17. Greg Says:

    September 16th, 2008 at 2:12 pm

Maybe the cylinder cover is for a V6 version they are giving to NA! Probably not, but I can be hopeful.

I found two websites based in UAE that tell about the soul and both say that UAE will get the 2.0L as well as 1.6L petrol. But it seems both engines have a 5 speed manu and 4 speed auto and not 5 like some expected. Anyway, thank god they offer the 2.0L. the cerato doesnt come with 2.0L option here. just 1.6.

  23. Greg Says:

    September 16th, 2008 at 5:28 pm

I realize that the four cylinder engines are very powerful, but, there have been a few instances where we have completely used up all of the horsepower available, and we still didn’t have enough. That happened even more often with the Spectra. If you are not interested in pulling out into heavy traffic, needing fast accelleration, a 4 cyl is fine. You can tap out a V6 too, but it’s a lot harder. Take Amanti as an example. We were test driving, going almost 40 and accellerating at 5-10 MPH per second, and mom tapped out all of the horsepower. We got surplus horses back 6 seconds later when we hit 100. Excessive wheel spin was also detcted at startup. But, even in applications that our 4 cyl taps out, even the 2.7 gives just that extra 20 HP to give (although still easy to tap out). Now, tapping out Borrego’s HP would be a challenge! Rio taps out of horsepower almost as soon as you hit the gas.

    September 16th, 2008 at 5:52 pm

Greg, let’s not walk that path again… last time it did not end up so friendly… ;-)

  25. Greg Says:

    September 16th, 2008 at 6:44 pm

I am just saying that sometimes our 4 cylinder engine runs out of power during heavy accelleration. I don’t want to run out of power so easily.

We rally don’t care about MPGs (38% of Americans don’t). We have the income so that we can afford to get 3 less MPG.

  27. Bryan Says:

    September 16th, 2008 at 7:19 pm

Greg, coming from the heartland especially, Michigan, it’s normal to hear you say that. But we’ve got ta remember that overall, all across America, the emphasis is reaching towards fuel conservation, with ghastly prices poking towards $4.00/gal once again(for what has to be a great reason, I’m sure, what a bunch of legalized thugs, the futures traders and oil companies). I want an all-electric rig in about 8 years, when my Lancer GTS may be heading towards retirement. I’ll play that one by the year, as I se fit.

  28. Greg Says:

    September 16th, 2008 at 11:51 pm

Gas is $4.41 here, has been for months.

  29. Bryan Says:

    September 17th, 2008 at 12:15 am

We’re at only $3.54 a gallon for RUG, at the Mustang ghastly station in little ‘ole Willcox, AZ. Yep, could be much worse, and yes, on Edmunds.com dudes are buying large pick-em-up trucks again. So rev up those engines, turn up the Foghat and how ’bout let’s ride.

  30. Greg Says:

    September 17th, 2008 at 12:18 am

Huh, diesel is $5.75 per gallon. That is why I am not getting after Kia for not having a diesel engine yet. Volkswagen diesels are so rare here, I haven’t seen one since November.

  31. JoshyLofty Says:

    September 17th, 2008 at 5:30 am

greg sometimes i wonder what you really are talking about. lol. but gas here in Dallas, TX is avg of $3.30 even after our hurricane that just hit. my R/T requites premium tho so its about 20 cents more. diesel’s a little higher but not much. As for the Jetta TDI (diesel), there’s a nearby VW dealer that i test drove a Rabbit recently @ & he said there’s a 6 month wait on them in a lot of texas. just a fact….

  32. Bornloser Says:

    September 17th, 2008 at 8:48 am

Greg, I find your comment “we have the income so we can afford it” (as if all other countries are poor) very misplaced! And with all the banks and insurance companies going bust in the states, I wouldn’t scream it out that loud!

  33. Greg Says:

    September 17th, 2008 at 1:34 pm

That is why it is a good thing to make $40,000+ per year. Not to mention, we still have A LOT saved from when mom was doing her job with the Spectra. She is very fortunate to have a good Accounting/Auditing job. As for dad, he stopped driving OTR, and is now doing local. We have been hit hard by the economic crap, but, we are not going into poverty anytime soon.

  34. JoshyLofty Says:

    September 17th, 2008 at 6:43 pm

40K isn’t that much ya know. i’m 22 and make more than that. but i also don’t go around shouting it.

  35. Ratdaddy Says:

Now Now–Let us not forget that Greg is only 14 years old and has not yet met the ideals of the real world. Things tend too look quite differnt to young eye’s…..

  36. Bryan Says:

    September 17th, 2008 at 8:51 pm

I think that Greg’s parents are giving him a great start in life, though. And his Mom shares his love for Kia, which is nice. There unfortunately are so many young people in this world who are taught by their so-called “friends” that you have to cut people up. steal from people, shoot people, etc.(L.A. in the U.S. is an example of this with their heritage of being a gangland, wonderful, huh?)so any time a young guy can educate himself while young(which is still the gold standard in the industry)and gain job skills, which Greg is already doing, then he’s doing well. Nobody’s perfect and I think that if we all examine ourselves with an honest light, we will agree with that statement. When I was a kid the Internet wasn’t around, but then again, I didn’t have such an intense desire to learn things about cars when I was real young, either. That did start at age 18, when I scored the first car I could call all my own, a 1965 Ford Mustang. Then the fun really began, my car-nutso friends!

  37. Greg Says:

    September 17th, 2008 at 10:10 pm

Yeah, 40,000 isn’t much. But, house is payed off, car payment is really low ($250), nothing in the house is natural gas (all electric is approx $45 per month cheaper). Our faucets don’t drip, which saves water. No credit cards to pay off, 2 cable tivos(DVRs)/internet/phone/and 3 cell phones is less than $200 per month. Plus, mom gets child support from dad. Food takes up all of that money, and we pay about $150 per month for gasoline, and average monthly clothing is less than $75. We usually have nearly $200 that we save for vacation each month. When she had her Spectra job, she made close to $80,000 per year.

    Whatever.

  40. Bryan Says:

Let’s face it, most of you people have already realized that learning about people who are doing well, or enjoying their life, or enjoying good music or making good music or painting a beautiful painting…a lot of us(and be honest here)don’t share their enthusiasm for whatever it is that turns them on. For instance, who’s happy that Bill Gates has about $47B in the bank? That’s an extreme case. Take something simple. Say somebody really enjoys making music or going to a music show put on by somebody else. People think, that’s great, but what’s in it for me? Think about it. Selfishness is only getting worse with each passing year, as we move headlong closer towards Armageddon. Dat be true, gentlemen.

I was driving a 2007 Ford F150 truck, so it is quite a different experience. I ordered all the toys for the Soul and am having them put on Thursday, can’t wait!!!
