Another day and another Kia rendering! This time we have a rendering, that reveals how the VG’s rear fascia might look like in the final production form. Obviously this rendering is from the same artist as the one we got two days ago and showed the front of the near-luxury Kia sedan, that is expected to hit the market by August next year. seems the artist as well knows about the round badge now. Is it someone on this blog who we know that is sending these renderings? anyway, THOSE LIGHTS ARE TOO AUDI!!! anyway, its cheaper than Audi, so I dont care and if Kia sees this, even the rear end camoflauge will be less in the next spy shoot.

The back has some Passat/Audi features to it. I don’t think that’s a bad thing at all.

The tail lights look like they’re using the H-grille as their inspiration. Is there anywhere else that shows this “round badge”? They just changed the badge not too long ago (a few years) from the red background and white letters to the outlined oval with same color letters (and made it a lot bigger)… I know they have a different badge they use in Korea that is round- is that the one being referenced?

I remember seeing vertical versions of those taillights on the Soul.

i remember the Soul taillights like this as well, greg. i see a lot of the passat in this but this looks to be much more modern. i like it a lot so far.

Jason—–I know they have a different badge they use in Korea that is round- is that the one being referenced?—–
yes. thats what we think it is. BTW, that badge is not used on all Kias sold in Korea. As far as I know [and seen], its only on sorento and K2700 commercial pick-up. But I feel its just an optional add-on cuz the korean site doesnt show a sorento with that badge. My personal opinion about it is that it looks dated and I dont like it at all. AT ALL!

agreed.

Looking good. I really can’t wait for people to see this. It will change many thoughts on Kia. They just have to make sure it performs just as good if not better than the Maxima and Passat as those are the sportier ones in the segment. I want people to compare this to the new (ugly) Acure TL so it can steal some sales.

doesn’t Passat have circular taillights?
September 5th, 2008 at 12:13 am
Yes the Passat does have round taillights. The taillights here have a hint of Audi to them. I was referring to the general shape of the backend suggesting Passat cues. It’s a handsome shape honestly.

what do you expect… its an ex audi designer who designed it after all! also, the “special” kia models such as the Kia Optima and the Mohave have their own badges which look a bit triangular.
September 5th, 2008 at 1:07 pm
do you mean optima or opirus? I do like that triangular badge of Kia’s.

Come to think of it, he helped design the Passat, and he was VW and Audi’s lead designer for several years! I agree with Patrick!

The back is rather a BMW carved out of a Fiat Sienna, Isn’t it?
September 5th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Yeah for someone who has been designing with Audi and VW for years, I’m impressed of how after all his concepts he made for Kia and production models., this is the first and closes I seen toward Audi. Now that’s a designer!!! And if this does look like an Audi, it’s not a bad thing because the Acura MDX’s tailights have simiular Audi lines as well.

I love Peter Schreyer’s work so far for Kia! Those VG taillights look good but I’m guessing they’ll not look like that on the production model, anyway. I believe P.Schreyer’s first work for Audi was designing the Audi TT, which is an awesome looking vehicle. More of the same, man!

Word is going around that the CH has been canned and the VG is going to be Kia’s top premium sedan. Does anyone know anything about this?
September 13th, 2008 at 5:31 am
I was never settled what this was going to be in the first place. If things go like this I think I might get fed up and leave VG in a dark cave.
